Mrs. Louise (Bottini) Moccaldi

Mrs. Louise (Bottini) Moccaldi, age 98, of Utica, went home to her Lord on Saturday, November 06, 2010 at the Katherine Luther Home Health & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Rome, NY on November 11, 1911, Louise was the daughter of the late Julio and Rosa (Santomassimo) Bottini. She was raised and educated in Rome. On June 29, 1935 she was joined in the Sacrament of marriage to James Moccaldi with whom she shared 34 years prior to his passing on April 10, 1970; they were true companions dependant upon each other sharing much happiness. During her younger working years, Louise was employed by the Florentine Pastry Shop, and later by several area mills including the Oneita Knitting Mills. She was retained by the General Electric Company at their Bleecker St. location as a line leader for many years, retiring in 1966. Louise was blessed with a warm, non-judgmental personality, always accepting of life’s trials. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who never refused to assist her loved ones in any way. Her special accomplishment in life was raising a family of whom she was so proud, and in like fashion, they cared for her needs to her very last day. She was very spirited for the holidays and was skilled at crocheting, bestowing many handcrafted articles of her talent. She was an expert baker, especially remembering her candy. Louise was a faith-filled, peaceful person, whose recitation of the rosary gave her comfort. She lived by the virtues of faith, family, and friends, and was a loyal parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Louise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Louis Mastroianni of Whitesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Loretta (Spina) Moccaldi of Utica; her grandchildren, Anthony A. Moccaldi, Ronald R. Moccaldi, Debra Olivadese, Louis III and Dawn Mastroianni, Gina and Earl Klein, James and Teri Mastroianni, and Krista Mastroianni. She gently remembered her grandson, James Moccaldi who preceded her in death. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Elinor Moccaldi, Alyssa Sinker, Katie Sinker, Vincent Olivadese, Jessica and Matthew Mastroianni, Vincent and Nicco Klein, and Nicholas Mastroianni; and her great-great-grandchildren, Audrey Lynn and Cayden. Survivors also include her sister, Helen Gerdano of CA; many nieces with special mention of Marie Cristiano, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Antoinette Bottini of Utica; and her longtime friends, Netta Emrich and Marie Papale. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Tony DeStefano, Anna and Bruno Morinitti, Assunta “Sadie” and Joseph Monaco, Antoinette and Tony Esposito, Magdeline “Nellie” and Frank Eadecola, and Carmella and Angelo Campese; her brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph Bottini, and Paul and Mary Bottini; and her in-laws, Anna Moccaldi, Michael and Theresa Moccaldi, Martin and Eileen Moccaldi, Joseph and Mary Moccaldi, Carmella “Minnie” and Tony DiMatteo, and Theresa and Joseph Cittadino. Louise was also preceded in death by Anna (Marino) Moccaldi. The family is truly grateful to the caregivers and staff of the Valley Crest wing of the Lutheran Homes who were compassionately kind and caring to Louise as well as thoughtful to her family during these difficult days; Father Anthony P. LaFache for his spiritual visits; and a special note of appreciation for the respect shown to Aunt Louise and the closeness shared by her niece Marie and husband Vinny Pristera, and their daughter Denise. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Louise’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial which will be offered by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
