Mrs. Louise E. (Casatelli) Centolella

UTICA - Mrs. Louise E. (Casatelli) Centolella, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at MVHS at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on January 6, 1919, Louise was the daughter of the late Raffaele and Assunta (Tedesco) Casatelli. Raised and educated locally, she was eager to learn and loved to read. On January 3, 1943 she married Victor A. Centolella who passed away on May 10, 2001. During the entire course of the couple’s 58-year union, they were blessed with a fervent love for one another and fidelity to their family. A very spiritual and religious woman, she practiced her Catholic faith as a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where she was a member of the Christian Women’s Society, Sts. Cosmas and Damian Society, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John’s. Louise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Anthony V. Battaglia; her grandchildren, Anthony V. Battaglia, Jr., and Christopher R. and Jennifer L. Battaglia; great-grandchildren, Olivia, and Jacob; and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Jennie Casatelli. She also leaves her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially Mary Vento and her daughter who was her Goddaughter, Grace and Eli Zogby with whom she shared a loving relationship. She was predeceased by her sister, Genevieve; and her brothers-in-law, Louis Tomaino, and Joseph Buccolo. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Queens Household and Crystal who offered her loving care; and the doctors, nurses, and personnel of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center ICU for their compassion and professionalism. The family will honor and commemorate Louise’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Louise’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of services. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
