Louise A. "Cookie" (Matti) Fluty

UTICA, NY/ORLANDO, FL – Louise A. “Cookie” (Matti) Fluty, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on April 17, 1934, Louise was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Anna L. (LoGalbo) Matti. She was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School/Class of 1952. On May 22, 1954, she was united in marriage with George F. Fluty. Their blessed union brought forth five wonderful children. The couple shared 51 years together prior to George's passing on September 26, 2005. Louise was not one to remain idle. After devoting many years to raising her children and working at several local businesses, she went on to earn her NYS beautician license. Louise owned and operated 4 Sisters Beauty Salon on Bleecker St. for forty years. She built a business where family, friends, and lifelong clients were cherished and treated like gold. Everyone who came into the salon could rely on her for the latest styles and techniques, as well as a good time and someone to talk to. Growing up, she had many fond memories of annual August road trip vacations to Florida, as well as Christmas celebrations at Trinkaus Manor. She also loved celebrating the New Year and holiday décor was a must – no skimping allowed. She worked hard and appreciated the finer things in life. As any good beautician is, she was meticulous in her own appearance, keeping up with the current trends and dressing her best for every occasion – and of course, her hair was always done to perfection. Over the past twenty years since George passed away, Louise delighted in traveling back and forth between the homes of her children, living with them, and watching her grandchildren grow up. Her family holds dear the memories of Louise driving the grandchildren to and from school—and later, as they got older, being driven by them to lunch. And of course, no one could forget those Sunday dinners. These two decades truly gave her children and grandchildren the chance to know who Louise was and to cherish every moment they spent with her. Louise was truly young at heart. She possessed a phenomenal sense of humor and was known for her many endearing quirks. Her quick wit and contagious smile warmed the hearts of all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Louise is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna M. and Rodney Baker, Karen A. and Joe LaPort, Jr., and Lisa A. Fluty-Alvarez and Joaquin Alvarez. She treasured the memories of her son and daughter who preceded her, Michael J. Fluty (1980), and Diane E. (Fluty) Massey (2020). She also leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law, Mike Massey; grandchildren, Chastity and Clayton Kolb, Michelle and Keith Dyar, Tyler and Nia Connolly, Ryan and Becca Gonzales, Michael and Jen Gonzales, Justin and Lindsay Gonzales, Megan and Greg Heikkinen, Erica and Justin Haskins, Danielle Alvarez and Michael, Diego Alvarez and Grace, Toshia Guerra, and Amanda LaPort; several wonderful great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Bill Elia. She fondly remembered her brother, Frank J. Matti, who passed away on August 18, 1987. Her loss is also felt by many nieces and nephews, with special mention of Tammy Elia, and Todd and Lisa Elia and their families; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and in-laws, Lorraine and Lawrence J. “Jerry” Williams, Fred and Ann Fluty, and Doreen and Joe D’Angelo. She was additionally predeceased by her in-laws, Marie Fluty Pfeffer, and Cynthia Booth. The Fluty family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Louise’s caretakers Kennedy and Rayane, for all their help in treating and caring for Louise with dignity. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Louise’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
