Lisa Michelle "Lea" Bellamy

UTICA – Lisa Michelle “Lea” Bellamy, age 56, took her last breath on Friday, June 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Albany on January 20, 1968, Lisa was the daughter of Janie (Coles) Bellamy and the late Roscoe Bellamy. She was raised and educated in Albany where she attended Albany High School. Lisa was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 10 years at numerous healthcare facilities. Locally, she held positions at Eden Park Nursing Home, currently known as the Pines at Utica, and the Masonic Home. Lisa sacrificed her own dreams so that her children could pursue theirs, as she wanted more for them than she had herself. Upon relocating her family from Albany to Utica she took on the roles of both parental figures with limited help. She truly stepped out of her comfort zone moving and making everything work in a different city with her children. Lisa consistently motivated them to have high aspirations and seek more fulfilling careers. She was the pillar of the family that she created. She was selfless, nurturing, and caring. Lisa reveled in her role as a mother and grandmother, and she taught other family members how to be mothers themselves. The love she held for her grandchildren was different and they could do no wrong; she turned her entire life around for them, changing her health habits so that she could cherish each and every moment possible with them. Music moved Lisa’s soul and she could often be found listening to old school R&B and she could sure shake her tail when her body allowed her to! When her music was playing and she began cleaning her house, her rolls of paper towel didn’t stand a chance. She also enjoyed playing cards and games on her phone. In her earlier years, she found pleasure in playing baseball. In her 50’s, Lisa took a leap of faith and relocated to Alabama to enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the south. Lisa is survived by her loving mother, Janie Bellamy; daughters and son-in-law, Naronna Nixson, and LaRosha and Francisco Colon; and son, Willie Bellamy, Sr. She treasured in her heart the memory of her son, Delvonte T. “Doe Doe” Byrd, who preceded her on November 2, 2019. She also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved grandchildren, Jahiem Jones, Kevin Presley, Dezariyiah Bellamy, Willie Bellamy, Jr., Noah Bellamy, Messiah Bellamy, Rahvierre Bellamy, Anahla Colon, Ahriaus Colon, and the anticipation of an 11th grandchild, Baby Bellamy; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and David West, Roxanne Ash, Martha Bellamy and her husband, and Nina Bellamy. She was predeceased by her sisters, Anette Bellamy, and Georgette Bellamy. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; her life partner of 20 years, Sylvester Russell; and many friends, including Lisa Johnson and Rajia Johnson. Lisa’s family will honor and commemorate her life at a private time.
