Mother Lillie Mae (Liggins) Savage

Sunrise 5-25-1934 Sunset 6-7-2026 Lillie Mae Savage, 92, of Rome, New York, was born to the late Walker and Rebecca Liggins. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Oxford Mississippi on May 25, 1934, Mother Savage was married to the late Richard Savage Sr. on February 27, 1953. Beginning a beautiful union together of 58 years. Their marriage was built on love, faith, laughter, unwavering support and deep devotion to one another. She was a devoted and loyal wife and a loving caring mother to 8 children and an avid prayer warrior. She loved God, her husband and her family. No one was a stranger. Mother Savage was a dedicated member of the Greater Holy Temple Church #1 under the late Suffragan Bishop Alvin J. and Mable E. Nelson since 1972 where she received the baptism in Jesus name and was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, She was a Prayer warrior, an active member of the Usher Board, the Willing Workers Group, the Pastor's Aide Group. The Mother's Board, a dedicated member of the choir and one of the "Best" cooks. She also was a part of the family singing group called "The Soul Seekers." In 2005 Mother Savage and the late Deacon Richard Savage started their membership with Kingdom Harvest Apostolic Church Rome, NY under the leadership of her Son-in-law, Bishop James Richardson Sr. and daughter, 1t Lady Betty Richardson. Mother Savage continued her role as Mother of the church on the Mother's Board until the Lord called her home. Mother Savage received her education through specialized trade training at the Career Development Center in Utica NY and went on to build a successful career starting with O'Hara Inn. From there, she went on to work for Mele Manufacturing and Oneida Limited. She acquired her License to become a Daycare Provider and worked in that compacity for 20 years before she retired. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard Savage Sr.; 5 brothers, Robert Liggins, Tommie Liggins, James Liggins, John (Clara) Liggins and Arthur (Mary) Liggins; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth (Jack) Liggins and Willie Mae (Robert) Jones. She is survived by her siblings, Adlean Harris, Rose Pearl (Frank) Cole, Mae Bower, and Dorothy (David) Mathis; sister-in-law, Cloverbell Liggins; children, Richard Jr. (Phyllis) Savage, Henry (Vivian) Savage, Walter (Lillie) Savage, Lady Betty (Sfg. Bishop James) Richardson, Marvin (Anita) Savage, Kenny (Cynthia) Savage, Curtis (Nathalyn) Savage, Jacqueline Troutman (Michael Gray), Sylvia (David) Redmond, Edna Richardson, Barbara (Anthony) Murray, David Shelton, Pearline Portee. Renee Rice, Liz Hardy, Ronnie Graham, James Williams, and Khadijah Beavers and Janessa Minor; and grandchildren, Marquita Savage, Dee Savage, Dominick Savage, Maurice Savage, Shauna Chavis, Natasha & Natalia Savage, Walter Jr. (Allie) Savage, Tennell (Cherise) Savage, Shakeema (Denzel) Enoch, James Jr. (Tiffany Rose) Richardson, Janiqua (Vern) Faulkner, Tiffany Richardson, Booshon Richardson, Michele Richardson, Mariah Richardson, Crystal (Anthony) Poole, Marvin Savage Jr., Nathaniel Savage, Esme Ford, Mike Savage, Justina Savage, Kashaun Savage, Charell Savage, Raymond (Chubb) Harris, Latashia Woody, Earline Woody, Danielle Savage, Dalisa Savage, Charles "Cj' Troutman, Dara (Ivan) Delgado, Dana Coleby, Tanisha Williams, Sharonda Williams, James (Tamara) Williams, Ray J Richardson and Matthew Richardson. She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Henry Savage Jr., Richard Savage Ill and Kayla Marie Troutman She additionally leaves a host of great-grands and great-great-grands, cousins, nieces and nephews, and her traveling partners and dear friends Gertrude and Fred Walker, Beulah Jones, Annie Mae Pope and Mother Betty Jones. We would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Butala, Dr. Wassel, their team and the Hospice Staff, for your exceptional care, compassion, kindness, dignity and support provided to our family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Kingdom Harvest Apostolic Church, 706 N. Madison St., Rome, NY. Mother Savage’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 12:00 p.m. at the church.
