Lesley Ann LaSalle-Haddow

MONROE, NC - Lesley Ann LaSalle-Haddow, age 45, our Steel Magnolia, was called home peacefully, but yet unexpectedly on Friday, December 2, 2022. Lesley was born on September 19, 1977 to David and Linda (Viti) LaSalle in New Hartford, New York. She resided in Monroe, NC and also felt strongly connected to her roots in Utica, NY. She attended East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, graduating in 1995. In 2002, she met Christopher Haddow, and they were married in 2003. They gave birth to their adorable, happy and incredibly active son Christopher Chase Haddow in October of 2007. She was incredibly in love with both Chris and Chase. Family was important to her and they spent inseparable time together. She and Chris truly enjoyed watching HGTV, The History Channel, and Discovery+ where they saw the world through the adventures of Josh Gates with the show, Expedition Unknown. Lesley had an incredible love for her son Chase, and wanted him to be loved by everyone. She was passionate about teaching him to follow God through the teachings of the Bible. It was during a precious time in her life that she was introduced by her sister to The Lady of Grace Church where she embraced, engaged, and truly began to have a personal relationship with the Lord. This experience truly changed the direction of the life of her husband and son and we are affirmed that she would want them to continue to follow the Lord. She was enthralled by the show, The Chosen and followed every season of the program. She recently watch Season 3 with her mom and they were truly both enlightened by the teachings. Lesley immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She was a joyful presence and as soon as she spoke, she contributed a witty comment. She loved her friends and family, and filled her home with warmth and kindness. Lesley had a great affection for children, and along with her son and nephews, they spent much time crafting at Nonni’s house. Lesley had a love for creating beautiful spaces. She was the queen of organization, and everything had to be in its proper place. It was because of all these wonderful traits that she found her niche as a nanny for several wonderful families, who entrusted and welcomed her in to their homes. The children of these families loved her dearly and she remained close with all of them to this very day. At age 13, Lesley was diagnosed with Juvenile diabetes; this disease was something she battled courageously from the very beginning. She struggled as many do and she overcame many adversities. It was unlikely that she would be able to carry and birth a child. It was a miracle that Chase (Chaser) was brought into her life and that was one of her greatest accomplishments. In 2019, she once again showed the greatest strength as she underwent surgery. She was a recipient of a new kidney and pancreas. She had a successful transplant and was given another chance at life and had such great hope. She had an endearment for any of God’s creatures. She was known to be a dog whisperer especially to her current canine companions, Sonny and Daisy, as well as to Oakley, her sister’s family dog. Her Angel Fish in her 20 gallon tank even knew when it was feeding time because of her training shenanigans. Although Lesley’s passing leaves her family and friends overwhelmed with grief, they know God has not forsaken them. She will live on in the hearts of her parents, David and Linda; her husband, Chris, and adored son, Chase; her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and John Shinas and their children, Jacob, Nathan, and Isaac. She was a joyful niece to her aunts, uncles, great-aunts; and cousins with whom she entrusted many memories. She also leaves her father-in-law, Bill Haddow and her late mother-in-law Roxanne Haddow; and her sister-in-law, Christie Hanzel and her children Danielle, Samuel, and Kaitlyn. Lesley was blessed with wonderful neighbors, and a host of dear friends. She was welcomed into heaven and received with open arms by her maternal grandparents, Guy L. Sr. and Rosalind (Delia) Viti; paternal grandparents, John and Margaret (McKenzie) LaSalle; and her aunts, Darlene, and AnnMarie LaSalle; uncle, Alan LaSalle; and cousin. Levi LaSalle. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at The Heritage Funeral Home, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Weddington, North Carolina.
