Mrs. Leonida Andrea Pacheco

UTICA - Mrs. Leonida Andrea Pacheco, age 87, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in the comfort of her home. At the time of her passing she was in the hearts of those she loved most. Born in Puerto Rico on February 4, 1932, Leonida was the daughter of the late Maria Delgado. In 1962 she relocated to Brooklyn and then to Utica to be closer to her family. Mommy was a rolling stone… she lived life by her own standards until the day she passed. She was passionate when speaking her piece and doing things her way. She loved her family unconditionally and was a proud matriarch to 4 generations! Her heart was open to many people and she was affectionately known as ‘grandma’. She honored her heritage and everyone loved her traditional Spanish dishes. Leonida loved being the center of attention and she spoke with no fear or filter. It also revealed another side to her—she was a free spirit! She enjoyed shopping via 7th Avenue Magazine. She collected many figurines, most abundantly Dalmations, and Angels of all shapes and sizes. Her room was decorated with photographs of her 23 grandbabies, 48 great-grandbabies, and 4 great-great-grandbabies! All her life, she had an abiding love for animals, especially her canine companion Pomeranian “Beyah”. Leonida was a woman of good will. She was accepting, welcoming, and non-judgmental. She put her trust in her Lord, her Catholic faith, and her Bible at her bedside. She was prone to peace and forgiveness, and believed that we all have our own personal turmoil. But her greatest gift in life was her children and the love she had for them. Leonida is survived by her children and their loves, Raymond and Nancy Torres, Angel Torres, Enrique Torres, Maria Garcia, Migdalia Torres, Efraim Torres, and Abraham Torres; she was predeceased by her daughter Sally Torres; 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. They are all her legacy, and they will love her forever and a day. She also had several siblings including her sister Carmen Quiles; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was blessed with a wonderful friend, Lucy Soler who saw to her every need. Leonida loved her as a daughter as well as all the members of Lucy’s family. The family is grateful to the Utica Police Department and Rescue #1 first responders for their kindness and compassion. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00-2:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. A Closing Blessing will commence at 2:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation.
