Mr. Leonard L. Pannofino

Mr. Leonard L. Pannofino, age 76, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on December 13, 1935, Leonard was the son of the late Dominick and Lucy (Lecia) Pannofino. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. For over 48 years, he shared a wonderful life with the former Theresa Sanders. Lenny was a loving, loyal, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was affectionately referred to as Pape (Poppie). His family was the center of his universe; he treasured them dearly, and reflected upon his life as being blessed and complete. His generous spirit and positive attitude afforded him many wonderful friends, all of whom will miss him greatly. Lenny is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; his daughter and son-in-law, Dee and Richard Kramer; his son Russ Pannofino and Deb Huey; his adored grandchildren, Krissy and Dave Sampson, James Pannofino, and Tony Kramer; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, and Briella Sampson. Also left to mourn his passing are his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Gloria Pannofino, Madeline and Bob Flihan, and Kathy Vanno. Lenny was also blessed with many wonderful friendships throughout his life. He was preceded by his sister, Mary Pannofino; his brother, Peter Pannofino; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frances and Vincent DiRuzzo; and his brother-in-law, Joe Vanno. The family wishes to thank Dr. Naji El Khoury and the physicians of the Central NY Cardiology for their many kindnesses and encouragement. The support and guidance of the personnel of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. were of great comfort. Additional gratitude to Father Anthony LaFache and Mons. Francis Willenburg for their prayers and visits. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service and Celebration of Life which will be held on Thursday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered with military honors. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Kindly refrain from floral offerings. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
