Mr. Leo J. "Buddy" Frog" Meyers, Sr.

UTICA – Mr. Leo J. “Buddy” “Frog” Meyers, Sr., age 70, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Leo was born on February 18, 1954, the son of the late Leo S. and Margaret E. “Peggy” (Alsheimer) Meyers. He attended T. R. Proctor High School. At one time, he was wed to the former Carol Smith, and from that union came the blessing of four children. A roofer by profession, he was employed with Jewett Brothers Roofing and Martin Flint Roofing. He later held a position with Carlo Masi Sons & Daughter, Inc. as a delivery driver. He lastly held a position with Independent Courier, the position from which he retired. Leo had a fantastic sense of humor and loved to “bust chops” and make people laugh. He was a very loving father and grandfather, always supportive of his family’s needs. He also adored his mom and siblings and was always respectful and loving wherever his family was concerned. Above anything else, he loved spending time with his family. In his free time, he enjoyed “chasing fires” with his scanner and listening to country music, especially Kenny Rogers. An avid football fan, he faithfully rooted for the Miami Dolphins. Leo is survived by his children and their loves, Samantha Meyers, Amber Meyers and Joseph Pike, Leo J., Jr. and Tonya Meyers, and Roger and Ashley Meyers; 21 grandchildren, Melinda Ramos, Mia Ramos, Jeremiah Meyers, Joshua Meyers, Terrance Spencer, Jr.; Joseph Pike III, Jonathan Pike, Phyllis Pike; Leo Meyers III who maintained the family tradition, Ryan Meyers, Caleb Meyers; Johnny Postal, Amber Meyers, Roger Meyers, Jr., Davien Meyers, Alisha Meyers, Isabella Meyers, Ethan Meyers, Arianna Meyers, Dean Meyers, and Hudson Meyers; great-grandchildren, Selena, Kahari, and Dorian; sister, Emily Meyers; and sisters-in-law, Jennifer Jewett, and Susan “Sue” Jewett. He fondly remembered his brothers who preceded him, Francis G. “Frank” Jewett, Sr., and Charles J. Jewett, Sr. Leo’s loss is also felt by a host of nieces and nephews, especially Dominick Meyers, whose position with the fire department Leo was so proud of, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He shared a loving relationship with Delores Talerico and her family, and is further survived by his friends, Jimmy Williams, and Shirley Talerico with whom he shared a special closeness. The Meyers family wishes to thank the staff at the Pines at Utica, especially the fourth-floor staff for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Leo’s Graveside Service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 70 Wood Rd., Whitesboro.
