Lena E. (Cavalier) Taurisano

Mrs. Lena E. (Cavalier) Taurisano, of New Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY. Born in Utica, Lena was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Amelia (Muoio) Cavalier. Raised and educated locally, she was a member of the first graduating class of T. R. Proctor High School. On January 6, 1942 she was joined in marriage to Anthony C. Taurisano with whom she shared 41 years prior to his passing on May 11, 1983. A dedicated homemaker, Lena’s life was focused on her family. She enjoyed her work with the Board of Elections at the polls at Conkling School. Among her other attributes, Lena was an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed swimming, and ballroom dancing. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Lena is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and James Solan of Yorkville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles A. and Barbara Taurisano of New Hartford, and James M. and Helen Taurisano of Utica; her grandchildren, Karen and Vincent Martino of Tully, Jimmi Solan of Spain, Nicole and Edward Albert of PA, Kristin and Chris Ferrante of Brooklyn, NY, Lisa Taurisano of Utica, and Laura Taurisano of FL. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Scott Solan. In addition, she leaves her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Martino, Anthony Martino, Edward Michael Albert, and Michael Charles Albert; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Lucille Taurisano, and William and Ruth Taurisano. She was predeceased by her sisters, Palma Kimmel, and Diane Cavalier; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Rocco Taurisano, Michael Taurisano, Philip and Hilda Taurisano, Joseph A. Taurisano, Frank and Elvira Taurisano, James Taurisano; and Cora Taurisano. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the Cedar Wing at the Presbyterian Home for providing much kindness and exceptional care to Lena for which they remain very grateful. Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Lena’s funeral service will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
