Mrs. Lena J. "Lee" (Prestigiacomo) Garramone

Mrs. Lena J. "Lee" (Prestigiacomo) Garramone, age 88, was called by the Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. At the time of her passing, she was in the presence of her loving family. Born in Utica on August 11, 1926, Lena was the daughter of the late Costantino and Della (Jessulo) Prestigiacomo. She was raised and educated in Utica and had resided in Frankfort for the past 57 years. On January 13, 1945 she married Stephen C. “Steve” Garramone with whom she shared a loving and patient union of 64 years prior to his passing on July 11, 2009. During her working years, Lee was employed as a beautician at the Elite Beauty Salon on Oneida Square and also held a position at the General Electric Company/Bleecker Street location until her retirement in 1960. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Along with sewing and knitting, Lee embraced new technology by joining Facebook and challenging her grandchildren and nieces in competitive games of Words with Friends. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Lee leaves her children, Helene and Fred Jufiar of Frankfort, Eugenia “Jeanne” Partipelo of Oneida, Stephen Jr. and Maria Garramone of Utica, and John J. Garramone Sr., and Maria Calenzo of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Wayne D. Keefe Jr. of CA, Angela Partipelo of Oneida, Michelle & Rick Rigsby of NM, Vito Partipelo of GA, Gina Partipelo of Oneida, Stephen J. Garramone, and Joseph Garramone, both of Utica, Sara (Garramone) and Joseph Hernon of Fayetteville, John J. Garramone Jr. of Texas, and Jessica Calenzo of Buffalo; her great-grandchildren, Krista Partipelo of NYC, Daniel and Eva Rigsby of TX, Jason Douglass of Oneida, Amanda Rigsby of NM, Kaylen Partipelo, and Miles Partipelo, both of Oneida, Alexandria Garramone of Utica, Vito A. Partipelo of GA, Jaden Mazza, and Janae Mazza both of Utica, and Joseph “Joey” Hernon of Fayetteville; and her great-great-grandchildren, Emma Lee Pohl of NM, Charlotte Rigsby and Tristin Lemaster of TX, and Logan Partipelo of Oneida. Survivors also include her sister, Marie Punzi of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Kay Prestigiacomo, and Carm Graziano, both of Utica; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Shelly Garramone; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella and John DaPrano, and Josephine and David Cozza; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Costantino Jr. and Lillian Prestigiacomo; and Carl Prestigiacomo; her late husband’s family, Joseph and Gladys Garramone, Lawrence and Lena Garramone, Frank and Fanny Garramone, John and Mary Garramone, Louis and Julie Garramone, Michael and Nola Garramone, Rocco and Millie Garramone, Madeline and August Napoli, Filomena and Jack Le Porte, John Punzi, and Phillip Graziano. The family extends a special thank you to Judge Anthony Garramone and Dr. Garth Garramone for their love and devotion; Lee’s lifelong friends, Mamie Caparo of Utica, Marge Sheri of FL, Helen Gerdano of CA, Patricia Garramone of Utica, Carole and Dick Jones and their family, and Mike and Tammy Rodriguez and their family, all of Frankfort, and Wayne Keefe Sr. of FL for all their years of friendship and support. Visitation will be held Tuesday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Memorial donations in Lee’s honor may be considered to the American Cancer Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Lena's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
