Lawanda "Wanda" Green

UTICA - Lawanda "Wanda" Green, age 55, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2024, following a courageous battle. Born in Utica on January 19, 1969, Wanda was the daughter of Gary Green and Olean Lang. Educated locally, she attended Utica Free Academy. Wanda held a position at the Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in its housekeeping department up until her illness. Wanda was very outgoing and selfless; she would feed a community with both nourishment and love. She loved to cook, especially her famous ribs. She enjoyed being outdoors where fishing and camping were sources of joy and bonding for her family and friends. She also enjoyed the excitement of playing Bingo. Wanda was cherished not only for her role within the community but also as a pillar within her family. Described as a beautiful mother, her role as matriarch was paramount to her existence, guiding and nurturing with a big heart that knew no bounds. Her involvement in several youth programs further showcased her dedication to uplifting those around her. Wanda is survived by her father, Gary Green; mother, Olean Lang; daughters and their loves, Nicole Brown and Eddie, Latoya and William Lee Lacy, Grace Green, Christa Stewart and Angel, Brianna Green and Davi, and Ashley Green and Michael; son, Treysean Green; and her beloved dog, Max. Her legacy is further carried on by her adored grandchildren Tamia, Tamera; Jahmez, Hyasia, Hynijah, Hyniyla, Hymiya, Hiylijah; Hassan, Hadgja, Hiyana, Giyonna, Hylek; Xianique, twin boys Gregory, and Gerose; Nyjayah; Arrmon; and Janiya; sisters, Patricia Green and David, Yvette Green, Yvonne Green, and Bernadette Green; brothers, Marvin Harris and Kennesha, and Gary Green, Jr.; sister-in-law, Shanda Harris; and stepsiblings, Falicia Ricks, the late Charla Spight, and Danny Ricks. She will also be fondly remembered by her uncle, Homer “Ball Back” Harris (the late Evelyn Harris), aunt, Anise Hunt; and was predeceased by her aunt, Johnie Mae “Monk” Harris. Wanda is further survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Erica, Deandrea, Anthoney; Delonzo, Shaniya, Marvin, Shyreak, Shamara; Latoya, Lachanta, Vernon, Takoya; Fatima, Fadia, Vontony, Tyruss; Anthony, Oneissa; Audrey, Rakir, Amirelle, Charles, and Charisma; great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, Vincent, Christine; Raymond, Patrick (Nooney), Preston (Dook), John (JB), and Renee (Lisa). She leaves behind her best friend, Roger Patterson; and held close to her heart the memory of her friends, Wendy Gaston, and Willie Brown who preceded her. Her special friends, Theresa “TiTi,” James Sanchez, Tony Stewart, Darnell Hunter, Leroy Tuff, Robert Zumpano, and Frederick Brown will also cherish her memory. Wanda was additionally predeceased by her nephews, Donte Levar Harris, and Tyrell Harris; and her maternal grandparents, Mary and Johnny “Shine" Harris. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Faxton Regional Cancer Center for their care and compassion. Thank you as well to MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare for their care and professionalism. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South Street, corner of Hammond Ave. Wanda’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following services, Wanda’s family invites all to join them at the repast at 893 Bleecker St.
