LaTia Ann Taylor

UTICA – LaTia Ann Taylor, age 29, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 3, 2026, in the comfort of her home. Born in New Hartford on May 15, 1996, LaTia was the daughter of Charles Sr. and Cheryl (Platt) Taylor. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of 2015. At the time of her passing, she was employed with All Seasonings Ingredients, Inc. in Oneida. For many years, LaTia shared a longstanding relationship with Maurice “Man” Garrett, and from their union came the blessing of their daughter, Z’nyrah. They were devoted parents, and their love for their daughter was their mutual bond. LaTia cherished her family and viewed co-parenting as a meaningful way to create special moments with her daughter, whether through crafting or shared getaways. Above all, she loved her daughter with all her heart and was deeply devoted to her. When surrounded by loved ones, there was no shortage of laughter, singing, and music—especially her favorite pop and early 2000s R&B. She also enjoyed a cocktail now and then. She enjoyed cooking and was especially skilled in the kitchen, often seeking out recipes made with natural ingredients. She had a deep appreciation for holistic living and natural approaches to caring for various ailments. She lived simply and was known for her generous soul. LaTia is surived by her partner, Maurice “Man” Garrett and their daughter, Z’nyrah A. “Z” Garrett; mother and father, Cheryl and Charles Taylor, Sr.; siblings and their loves, Christopher and Erica Thayer, Mark Thayer, Tiffany Thayer, Charles III and Shayann Taylor, Charles Taylor, Jr., Shequila Taylor, and Dejanae Rogers; a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; cousins, especially Kayla Davis, TaQuanda Taylor, and Latifah Taylor; and paternal grandparents, Peggy Taylor and Allen Taylor, Jr. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Andrea Platt; and Jack Taylor. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. LaTia’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
