Krystle Elizabeth DeBuono

Krystle Elizabeth DeBuono, age 29, of Utica, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 2, 2012 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on October 4, 1982, Krystle was the daughter of Cynthia (Trivieri) Riggles and Paul DeBuono. She was also blessed with the loving guidance of her "Pops" Patrick Riggles. She was raised and educated in Utica, a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School Class of 2000. Krystle was an intelligent young lady and she furthered her studies at M.V.C.C. receiving an Associates Degree in Business, and then attended SUNY Institute of Technology where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. She was currently studying in the field of Health Service Management. Krystle held a position at the YWCA as a payroll benefits specialist until her illness. Whether at work or interacting with the world, she was selfless, compassionate, full of integrity, and graceful. She had a God-given keen mind and sharp wit and will affectionately be remembered for her beautiful smile and irrepressible spirit. She was always there for the people she loved no matter how busy she was and she always remembered the many special events of her family and friends. Above all, she was a gifted mother offering her love and devotion to her precious little Kloe, lovingly known as “Boo Boo” or “Klo Klo” and she was proud of her Saturday morning dates with her daughter. As a daughter, Krystle was loving and thoughtful and held an unconditional love for her family. As a big sister, she often offered care giving responsibilities. She had a great knack for organization and event planning, and loved shopping and traveling on wine tours in North Carolina with her family. She was a great cook and was fondly referred to as the “sauce snob” as a testament to her savory sauce. She also had an inclination for stiletto shoes. She was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Krystle is survived by her companion, Kevin Kiersnowski; her 3-year-old daughter, Kloe Reese; her mother Cynthia Riggles, her father Paul DeBuono and step-mother Kim DeBuono; "Pops" Patrick Riggles; grandmother Margaret “GG” Trivieri; grandfather Lawrence A. Trivieri; and grandfather Vincent “Grandpa Vinnie” DeBuono. Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers, Brandan DeBuono, Collin Riggles, and sister Nicole DeBuono; her godchildren, Ceci, and Rylan; a host of many aunts, uncles, and cousins, especially acknowledging her cousins Sonya Piersma, Alyssa Sealock, and Bryan Herman; and her special friends, Amanda Zupancic, Carissa Asaro, Kelly Bell, Stefanie Dorozynski, and Lisa Roser – her fearsome fivesome. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Pauline DeBuono, her aunt, Andrea Herman and special family friend, Kenneth Drake. The family wishes to acknowledge on Krystle’s behalf the many acts of kindness, love, and support of the many friends, family, and the community who contributed to her benefit Kure for Krystle. Also, gratitude is offered to neurosurgeon Dr. Mark Smith; oncologist Dr. Manzurul Sikder; and a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Massachusetts General for their care and professionalism. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Memorial Mass will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Boston; envelopes will be available at the church service. “Krystle, we love you to the moon and back”.
