Koudi I. "Mahanad" Bashir

UTICA – Koudi I. “Mahanad” Bashir’s day came that he met the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the young age of 26. Born in Khartoum, Sudan on February 12, 1999, Koudi was the son of Islas Bashir and Haga Zagrin. He relocated to the United States with his family, attending Whitesboro High School, where he became a renowned athlete. A shining star of the school’s soccer team, his gifted athleticism and skill on the field helped carry the team to many victories. Koudi began working as soon as he was able. At one time, he gained employment with Little Ceasar’s, before moving on to other establishments, such as Granny’s Kitchen, DiOrio’s, and Chester’s Flower Shop and Greenhouses. Most recently, he was dedicated to his position as a stacker at Chobani. Koudi was very ambitious, yet at the same time, he kept to himself, possessing a calming and quiet soul. A selfless man, he would never hesitate to go out of his way to help others who needed it. He enjoyed the time he spent playing soccer with family and friends from his community. He even played on local teams from Utica to Albany. When Koudi wasn’t on the field, he could be found playing video games. Family was the biggest priority in Koudi’s heart, coming before all else. They will dearly miss his presence but are comforted in knowing that he is home with his loving God. Koudi is survived by his devoted mother, Haga; cherished siblings, Youma Bashir, Lina Bashir, Bashir Bashir, Sharif Bashir, and Toti Bashir; many aunts and uncles, with a special mention of his uncles, Khalid Zagrin, and Nasir Zagrin along with his wife Fairuz Koko; beloved maternal grandfather, and paternal grandmother, who will hold his memory in their hearts; and close family friend, Isaac Padiet, who guided the family through their transition to America. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, and paternal grandfather. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Final Prayers for Koudi will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Those unable to attend may be present virtually at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84193907291. Interment will immediately follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
