Katherine “Kathy” Corelli Utica Mrs. Katherine M. “Kathy” Corelli, wife of John Bannister, age 58, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. At the time of her passing she was surrounded with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on June 1, 1952, Katherine was the daughter of the late Diamond and Catherine “Catie” (Perrone) Corelli. She was raised and educated locally. She was united in marriage to John Bannister and the couple shared a loving and devoted union. At one time, Kathy worked in the lab at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Her unique personality was a memorable combination of a forceful presence and a rapid-fire wit. No one escaped being the object of her colorful descriptions or her amusing commentary. Kathy inspired laughter, and she never forgot to laugh at herself as well. During her spare time, she loved to shop, play cards, frequent the casino, and she was an avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. Kathy is survived by her husband, John, her sister, Lenora “Lennie” Giacovelli of Utica; and her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Cricket Corelli of Hinkley. In addition, she leaves her nieces and nephews, Vicki Giacovelli, Gregory D. Giacovelli, Katie Giacovelli, Maggie Giacovelli, Anthony and Briar Corelli, Joseph and Sally Corelli, Timothy and Melanie Corelli, and Shannon and Scott Bowers; great-nieces, and great-nephews, with special mention of Diamonte and Mercello and stepchildren; cousins, Phyllis and Arthur Ellis; and her neighbors, William and Erin Carter and family. She was predeceased by her niece, Missy Corelli. The family extends sincere gratitude to the members of the Utica Fire Department Rescue One for their valiant efforts; and the doctors and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 2:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Kathy’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at the funeral home immediately upon the conclusion of visitation with Sister Elizabeth Giarrusso, CSJ officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
