Karen Elizabeth (Frezza) Rocco

NY MILLS – Karen Elizabeth (Frezza) Rocco, age 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Born in New Hartford on April 13, 1963, Karen was the daughter of the late David and Sharon (Story) Frezza. She was a proud graduate of NY Mills High School. In her youth, Karen excelled at softball, playing for the NY Mills High School teams, and taking them to the championships. Throughout her life, Karen always rooted for the home teams, the NY Yankees, and the NY Giants. Karen married the love of her life, Francis A. “Frank” Rocco, Jr., on October 14, 1995. They shared a loving and devoted marriage of over 28 years. Karen held various positions where she was able to greet and connect with many people each day. At one time she held a position at McDonald’s. More recently, she was employed by Birnie Bus Co. as a monitor. Karen was happiest when she was surrounded by loved ones. As she got older, she enjoyed time at home, cozy with family, friends, or her fur baby, watching Gameshow or Lifetime Networks. Karen had a spiritual heart that allowed her to have a special bond with the animals in her life. She was also a loving and strong-willed woman who stayed firm to what she believed. Karen loved a good debate, which could turn into a “sparring session.” Karen is survived by her loving husband, Frank Rocco; her beloved fur baby Ginger; and her brother and sister-in-law, David and Mimi Frezza. She remembered fondly her brother, Robert J. Frezza, who passed away on September 21, 2022. She lives on in the hearts of her nieces, Kaylea (Frezza) and Loren Sluder, and Meghan (Frezza) and Luke Presley; nephew, David Frezza; great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts and uncles, Edith and Dave Brady, George and Terry Kidney, Janet and Jerry Moran, and Ann LaBella; cousins, Heidi and Rodney Brewer, Shaun and Theresa Story, Lisa and Randy Beron, Lori and Canio Morasco, and Chad and Kelly Kidney; and in-laws, Lynn (Rocco) and James Ludden, Patrick Rocco, Laurie Rocco, and Thomas Rocco. Karen was predeceased by her special uncle, John J. Story, as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis A. “Frank” Sr. and Cheryl (Scofield) Rocco. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Karen’s cousin Lisa Beron for the care and assistance she gave, and her niece, Amanda Sweezey, for her exceptional care as a nurse at Wynn Hospital. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the devoted staff at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Utica. Karen’s family will honor her life privately.
