Julia R. (Cecere) Garramone

Mrs. Julia R. (Cecere) Garramone, age 89, of Deerfield, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on October 19, 1920, Julia was the daughter of the late Cosmo and Rose (Panarese) Cecere. As a young girl she resided in NJ and returned to Utica at the age of 17. On September 12, 1944 she married Louis J. Garramone, Sr. with whom she shared a devoted union of 54 years prior to his passing on July 2, 1998. Julia was employed as a teacher’s aide for 18 years with the Utica City School District, retiring in 1982. At one time, she enjoyed her membership in the Deerfield Senior Citizens and was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, and its Altar Rosary Society. Julia is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Roseannette and Ben Enea of Deerfield, Phyllis and Dennis “Jake” Jacobs, Sr. of Utica, and Francine Garramone and fiancé James Mullin of Westmoreland; her sons, Rocco Garramone of Buffalo, and Louis J. Garramone, Jr. of Utica; her grandchildren, Louis Garramone III, Angel and Richard Woolheater, Michael Garramone, Julie and Mike Talerico, Natalie Garramone, Rachelle Garramone, Dennis Jr. and Jennifer Jacobs, Alicia Jacobs, David and Tatiana Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, Andrea and Pat Merdan, Amanda and Tom Bogaert, and Benjamin Enea; 11 great-grandchildren, with the anticipation of two additional great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially acknowledging Francis Oliva; her in-laws, Philomena LePorte, Carm Graziano, Michael Garramone, and Lena Garramone; and her longtime and loyal friend, Rose Palleschi. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Frank and Julia Cecere, and Nicholas Cecere; her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Patrick Striano; and her in-laws. The family wishes to thank Julia’s home health aide, Joan Mims, for her love and respect in tending to Julia; also her caretakers, Craig, Adam, Geneva, Wanda, Victoria, and Christine for their kind and gentle care of Julia which was truly a blessing. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Julia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. from the funeral home and at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
