Ms. Judy L. Rubino

E. UTICA – Ms. Judy L. Rubino, age 62, passed away on February 23, 2025, following a brief illness. At the time of her passing, her loving sister and nephew were by her side. Born in New Hartford on June 24, 1962, Judy was the daughter of the late Dr. Samuel T. Rubino and Patricia (Loftis) Rubino. She was educated locally and was a graduate of Mohawk Beauty School and Mohawk Valley Community College where she became a certified phlebotomist. Always the entertainer of the family, Judy loved to sing and dance and make people laugh. As a young girl, she was a proud member of the Utica Rhythm Lights. She and her friends would travel to various nursing homes throughout the area to entertain the residents. One of Judy's favorite pastimes was gathering her neighborhood friends and performing comedic plays in her family’s garage. Throughout her career, Judy held positions with the New York State School for the Deaf, Sauquoit Valley High School, and Harts Hill Inn where she mastered one of her greatest passions, cooking. She served the community for over 25 years in the homecare field where she was bright, energetic, and compassionate; but her greatest asset was her incredibly kind heart. Judy was a selfless giver who devoted her life to helping others. Many of her clients became extended family to her; if they were alone for the holidays Judy would make them a home cooked meal or even invite them to have dinner with her family. She made sure everyone knew they were always welcome. In recent years, she was so grateful to be back in the home where she grew up and made so many beautiful memories. Judy loved God, she loved her family, and she was a true animal lover. If you were ever a part of Judy's life, always remember, she loved you all! Judy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Michael Russo, and sister, Mary Jane Lathwood with whom she resided; nephew, Dr. Michael JS Lathwood who was also her godson and whom she loved as a son; and many special cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Angeline (Bruno) Rubino; and maternal grandparents, J. Harold and Florence (Huther) Loftis. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Francis Constantine and his staff for the excellent care they provided to Judy over the years. Thank you as well to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Wynn Hospital for their compassion; and to her special friend, Joan Boucher, for her loving heart and friendship. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Judy’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave., Utica. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Judy’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org/donate; envelopes will also be available at the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
