Mrs. Judith Ann "Judy" (Matrulli) Cordo

UTICA – Mrs. Judith Ann “Judy” (Matrulli) Cordo, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Born in Utica on May 28, 1943, Judith was the beloved daughter of the late Manfred A. “Fritz” and Margaret C. (Ferrera) Matrulli. She was a proud graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1961. On September 18, 1965, Judy was united in marriage with the love of her life, Michael F. Cordo. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of a loving and devoted partnership. In her early years, Judy worked as a secretary at General Electric’s Broad Street location. After dedicating herself to raising and nurturing her family, she returned to the workforce as a sales associate at the Half-Size Shop, which later became Catherine’s. Judy had a loving heart and embraced her role as a true matriarch with grace, balancing life’s many demands with calm and steady resolve. She was an excellent mother, a devoted wife, a masterful homemaker and Nonnie. Daily family meals were a cherished tradition she upheld, believing deeply in the importance of time spent together. Judy enjoyed bowling with her family and looked forward to trips to the casino. In quieter moments, she loved word games like Jumble, Scrabble, and the Observer-Dispatch newspaper puzzles. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted parishioner of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus. Judy is survived by her husband, Michael F.; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa C. and Robert F. Schachtler; son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Tanya Cordo; grandchildren, Gabriella A. Cordo and Marcus Allen, and Kaytlyn and Nicholas Bello; sister, Margaret Mardany; and brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Ann Marie Matrulli. She also leaves to cherish her memory nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and in-law, Genevieve Venturino. She was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rosario and Theresa (Denarola) Cordo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie F. and Samuel M. “Joe” Milazzo, Frank and Vera Cordo, Vincent and Edwina Cordo; and her friend, Joanne Sabino. Visitation will be held on July 22, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Judy’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
