Mrs. Joyce Madeline (Garcea) Redd

LOMPOC, CA/UTICA - Mrs. Joyce Madeline (Garcea) Redd, age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center in California. Born in Utica on June 26, 1944, Joyce was the daughter of the late Enrico and Elizabeth (Scala) Garcea. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On January 10, 1970 she married William E. Redd, Jr. Joyce enjoyed traveling, and upon her marriage, the couple relocated to various locations throughout the country due to her husband’s military obligations. Joyce’s career was spent in the banking industry. Joyce loved her family, honored her Catholic faith, and was proud of her Italian heritage. Joyce is survived by her husband, William E. “Chick”/Ret. USAF; her son and daughter-in-law, William Bernard and Kelly Redd of Portland, Oregon; and her grandson, Miles Archer Redd. She will also be remembered by her sister, Marie Garcea Manca of Utica; her mother-in-law, Flossie (Chambers) Walker and the entire Chambers family; her nieces and nephews, Rick Trinco and fiancee Phyllis Christiano, Gina (Trinco) and John Spinelli, Christopher Trinco, and Lisa (Trinco) and Brian Raehm; great-nieces and great-nephews, Stephanie and Raymond Briggs, Francesca Spinelli, Gabrielle Spinelli, Loretta Trinco, and Hunter Raehm; great-great-nephews, Parker, and Owen; brother-in-law, Dominick “Dick” Trinco and his wife Marie; in-laws, George and Alice Chambers, Rudy and Carol (Chambers) Evans, Bill and Jackie Chambers, Wythene (Chambers) Parker, Carnalitha (Redd) Christian; a host of cousins, too many to name, who loved Joyce dearly as their own. Joyce’s glowing light touched many during her travels with Chick, including friends in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, and California who were blessed by her friendship. She was predeceased by her sister, Loretta (Garcea) Trinco; and her brothers-in-law, Robert Manca, and Bernard Redd. The family sends a special thank you to Summer Raehm who made many visits to see Joyce and kept in contact with her family on the East coast via FaceTime, to close the distance in miles during her recovery. Joyce was truly a superstar to everyone who knew her. The family will honor and commemorate Joyce’s life at a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joyce's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation to the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish Memorial Fund; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
