Joseph T. Eanniello

Mr. Joseph T. Eanniello, age 81, a native Utican, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 05, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc. with his family and caretakers by his side. Born in Utica on January 14, 1927, Joseph was the son of the late Damiano “Danny” and Maria Vincenza (Barisi) Eanniello. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country in the European Theater of Operations. A self-motivated and determined man, Joseph was aware of opportunities in life and embraced them. He was blessed with accounting talents which afforded him numerous positions, highlighted by his employment as a purchasing agent for the Fountain Bleu Hotel in Florida, comptroller at Diners Furgazzi in New York City, and lastly, as comptroller at Sachs Investing Co. Real Estate in New York City, the position from which he retired. In 1982, he returned to Utica to be closer to his family during his retirement years. He was an independent and fastidious man who shared an interest in various cultures. He appreciated the finer things in life, and lived life with much honor and integrity. He was thankful for all the privileges he was granted during his lifetime, the greatest being the love of family and heritage. As a world traveler, he toured South America and Europe, where he journeyed with pride, especially when visiting his native land of Italy. He was also an avid bridge player. A devout Catholic, he was comforted by his religious beliefs and was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church where he served as an usher. Joseph is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Cosmo Verrico of Cortland, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Angela Eanniello of Utica; his nieces and nephews, who he appreciated and cherished throughout his life, Lynn Foster and his wife Karen Pellizzari, Lorraine Agostino, Daniel Eanniello, Regina Kane, Roseann Eanniello, and Cecelia Verrico; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, especially acknowledging Scott Agostino and Gina Montana, and Nicole L. Foster. He was blessed with many friendships throughout his life. He was predeceased by his sisters and brother-in-law, Frances Eanniello, Jennie Eanniello, and Lena and Leo Foster; and his nephews, Anthony “Toto” Eanniello, and Louis A. Eanniello, Jr. The family extends sincere appreciation for the outstanding and quality care shared by the staff of the Birch Unit at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc. with special thanks to Lucy Viti, Head of Nursing, for her personal commitment throughout the years. In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life to be held with Military Honors on Monday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Joseph’s honor to his home parish of St. Anthony of Padua Church; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St. corner of Hammond Ave.
