Josephine M. Angerosa

Josephine M. Angerosa, age 82, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Masonic Care Community of NY. Born in Utica on December 20, 1926, Josephine was the daughter of the late Nicholas Mario and Philomena “Fannie” (Talento) Angerosa. Raised and educated locally, she attended T. R. Proctor High School. Josephine’s working career began at Griffiss Air Force Base, and she subsequently held a position for over 41 years at the General Electric Company Bleecker St. location where she was wholeheartedly committed to her skills and responsibilities on the job. Josie was ingenious, mechanical, and dedicated to those with whom she worked for, with and alongside. She earned citations and awards for her ability to improve the technology of the devices she worked with. She spent a majority of her years as a team leader for Line 1, retiring in 1986. At home, Josie was dedicated to caring for her father and mother and continued her compassionate nature with her concern for her siblings, nieces and nephews, and their families. She was always giving of herself and nothing was more important than family. In her earlier years, she was very athletic as an avid bowler and a fast-pitch softball player. She was a New York Yankees fan, always looking forward to the next season. She also had an abiding love for animals, and their well being was important to her. A companion to her three miniature schnauzers, Rocky, Litzel, and Rena; and her cocker spaniel, “Raphael”, she also catered to her feline, “Smokey”. She was a member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers and a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. A woman of faith, she was devoted to St. Theresa, Padre Pio, and the daily recitation of the holy rosary which she offered up for the health concerns of those she loved. Josephine is survived by her many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and in-laws, Lena Angerosa Pavia, Patricia Angerosa, Elizabeth “Betty” Angerosa, Marie Angerosa, Carol A. Angerosa, and William Labella; and her longtime friend, Stella Kojac. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Angerosa, Rose Angerosa, Angeline M. and John J. Pinto, Stella M. and Frank F. “Poppi” Falbo, and Pauline LaBella; her brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph and Susan Angerosa, Dominick Angerosa, John Angerosa, Anthony Angerosa, Nicholas M. Angerosa, and Frank Angerosa; her beloved niece and nephew, Angela M. Angerosa, and Nicholas F. Angerosa. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. who assisted Josephine through her heart ailments, especially mentioning Navaz; Sr. MaryEllen (the one with the blue eyes), Sr. Sharon Ann, for all their compassion; the Masonic Care Community of NY, Albany Unit nurses and aides who cared for Josie with such love; and Msgr. Willenburg for his years of friendship and concern. In keeping with Josephine’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Josephine’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will be held on Monday morning at 11:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
