Mrs. Josephine M. (Assisi) Napoli

UTICA - Mrs. Josephine M. (Assisi) Napoli, age 96, went home to heaven on Saturday, December, 12, 2020 when she passed away at the Masonic Care Community of NY. Born in Utica on May 10, 1924, Josephine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jenny (Maggiore) Assisi. On May 25, 1940 she married Attilio T. “Terry” Napoli with whom she shared 55 years in union blessed with commitment and love. Terry passed away on July 29, 1995. Josephine devoted years to raising her children, and when they were school age, she accepted a position with the Utica City School District where she worked for 20 years as a lunch aid at Albany St. School. She was blessed with a good life, filled with love, dedication, and family, and the smile on her face spoke volumes—she was happy of heart and mind. She fulfilled the role of matriarch of her family with honor and honesty. Josephine was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Josephine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Thomas Rastani; and the memory of her daughter, Antoinette “Toni” Napoli who passed on November 26, 2016; and her son, Terrence S. Napoli who passed on January 1, 2003. She also leaves her grandchildren, Mark and Marie Rastani, and Lisa and Kurt Dellers; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Rich Grimaldi Jr., Jennifer Rastani; Kate Dellers, Kyle Dellers, and Kara Dellers; and her great-great-grandchild, Master Marco Grimaldi; and her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Angeline Assisi; and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Alfred Daniels. The family is grateful to the nurses and staff of the Erie Household at the Masonic Care Community of NY for the loving, sensitive care rendered to Josephine during her stay; and Dr. Kevin McCormick, a fine physician who provided excellent medical oversight. The family will honor and commemorate Josephine’s life at a private time. Rite of committal and interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
