Mrs. Josephine M. (Bosco) Cefali DeMola

UTICA - Mrs. Josephine M. (Bosco) Cefali DeMola, age 97, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Masonic Care Community of NY. At the time of her passing, she was in the hearts of those she loved. Born in Utica on June 11, 1920, Josephine was the daughter of the late Salvatore, Sr. and Mary (Testa) Bosco. She was raised and educated locally. In September of 1937 she married Vincent D. Cefali with whom she shared a loving union of 10 years until his passing on July 8, 1948. She was blessed with a second union on June 27, 1969 when she wed Querico “Lefty” DeMola and shared with him 11 years prior to his passing on December 14, 1980. For over 30 years, Josephine held employment with the Joseph & Feiss Company as a seamstress, the position from which she retired. Josephine’s family marveled at her strength, her devotion, and her ability to overcome obstacles in her life. Her family was always her priority, and they will have fond memories of her, especially of the holidays and her memorable cooking, baking, and bringing joy to her loved ones. During her spare time, she loved to knit, crochet, and create handcrafted items at ceramic classes. She was a member of the Senior Day Center and a former parishioner of St. Agnes Church. Josephine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Madeline and Dominick Garofalo of Clinton. She held close to her heart the memories of her daughters and son-in-law, Marian Petrosino, and Congetta “Connie” and William Buehler. She also leaves her son-in-law, Joseph Petrosino, Sr. of Rochester NY; her grandchildren, Dr. Joseph, Jr. and Janie Petrosino of Houston TX, Paul Petrosino, Esq. of Rochester NY; Denise and Dr. Patrick Lynch of Fayetteville NY, Dana-Marie Garofalo-Laszewski of Hampton NH, Dominick III and Carolanne Garofalo of Virginia Beach VA; Christine and David Goldman of Westmoreland, William, Jr. and Yvonne Buehler of Stanwick NY, and Theresa and Thad Abrams of Waterville NY; her great-grandchildren, Victoria, and Sophia Petrosino, Merissa, and Brittany Lynch; Slade, and Logan Laszewski; Kailey, Taylor Grace, and Camryn Garofalo; Bethany and Brendan Mizgala, Nathan Humphrey, Micaela Goldman; Nicole, Daniel, and Anna Buehler; Zachary, and Luke Abrams; and her brother Salvatore J. Bosco, Jr. of Utica. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her infant grandchildren, Alaina, Hailey, and Aaron Abrams; her brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin V. “Bennie” and Philomena A. “Phil” Bosco; and her sister-in-law, Nardine M. Bosco. The family wishes to acknowledge the entire staff of the Masonic Care Community especially the Amherst unit for their loving care and compassion; as well as Dr. McCormick and his team of experts. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Josephine’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
