Josephine (Nole) Maneen

Mrs. Josephine (Nole) Maneen entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday morning, October 16, 2007 after her courageous battle with cancer. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday with a laughter-and-story-filled brunch surrounded by family and friends. Josephine was the daughter of the late John and Angeline Nole. She was a lifelong communicant of Blessed Sacrament/Mount Carmel Church, a faithful servant who put God and family first. Josephine was married to her childhood sweetheart, Rocco Maneen, and they enjoyed a loving and giving marriage until his death in 1980. She worked hard at everything she did, from bean-picking to bookkeeping. She loved cooking for her family, and some of our favorite memories are of being gathered around her pasta dinners together. Josephine was grateful for her many blessings – faith, family and friends. She adored her children and her grandchildren, and was always ready to help them in any way that she could. She shared a bond of love with her sisters, Mary and Dee, her brother Angelo and her sisters-in-law, Patricia and Mamie that only grew stronger with time. She enjoyed such a close relationship with her family that her nieces, Patricia, MaryAnn, Dorothy, Laurie, Lynne, Karen, Jennifer and Theresa and nephews, Andy, David, Eddie, Michael, Pat, Chris, Steven, George, Jim and John were like her children. Cousins were her “best friends forever” and friends became family cherished by Josephine. When her family grew there were no in-laws; all were enfolded into her heart. Josephine was a happy, peaceful person and a role model to all of us. She found joy in living, and had a laugh that would make all want to gather around her. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Josephine leaves a son, Peter Maneen of Utica, a daughter, RoseAnn and son-in-law James Garry of Albany, and a daughter-in-law Linda Maneen of Sauquoit. Always close to her heart was the memory of her son John Maneen who preceded her in death. She was very proud of her four grandsons, Jonathan, Paul, and Michael Maneen of Sauquoit, and Joseph Garry of Albany. She also leaves two sisters, Mary Morgan of Marcy, Delores Cox of Illinois, and a sister-in-law Patricia Nole of Utica and was predeceased by a brother, Angelo Nole; and her in-laws, Mamie and Pat Fragetta, Andy Morgan Sr., and George Cox. The family wishes to thank the wonderful people of Abraham House and Hospice for their loving care of Josephine during her final days, Dr.Jerry Sloan and his dedicated staff for their compassionate health care and support and all those who offered countless acts of kindness. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 11:00-12:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Memorial contributions can be made to the Abraham House, or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Josephine’s funeral service will commence at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
