Joseph G. Conde

Mr. Joseph G. Conde, of Clearwater, Florida, succumbed to complications of Parkinson's Disease on Christmas Day, December 25, 2008. He was born July 1, 1928, the son of the late Joseph G. Conde, Sr. and Libra (Perin) Conde. A 1946 graduate of T. R. Proctor High School, he pursued collegiate studies at SUNY Oswego, and earned a Masters Degree from Syracuse University. On June 26, 1954, at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, he married the former Doreen Parkinson with whom he shared 54 years. Joe dedicated 37 years to teaching industrial arts in the Utica School system. In addition to his classroom duties, for many years he coached several varsity and junior varsity sports, and also held various positions with the Utica Teachers Association. He retired from the district in 1988. Joe was also an active member and officer in the North Utica Kiwanis Club, serving three terms as president. For the past 18 years, Joe and Doreen enjoyed their winter home in Clearwater and summers at their home on Oneida Lake. Joe is survived by his wife, Doreen; his daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Doug Eccleston of Sauquoit, and Anne Conde of New Hartford. Always close to his heart was the memory of his son, Joseph “Joey” Conde who preceded him in death. In addition, he leaves his grandsons, Stephen Eccleston of Rochester, Will Eccleston of Sauquoit, and Joseph L. Conde of Sauquoit, and granddaughter, Stephanie Demma of St. Louis, MO. Survivors also include his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Anthony Bartolotti of New Hartford and their children, Barbara and Craig Brodock of New Hartford, John and Donna Bartolotti of Syracuse, and Anthony and Debbie Bartolotti of New Hartford; his mother-in-law, Ruth Storm; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Thomas Hilton, and their children, Amy Sumner and Parker Ward, all of Mississippi. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Joseph’s honor to the Crohn’s/Colitis Foundation, or the Parkinson’s Foundation of America; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Joseph's funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
