Mr. Joseph F. "Joey" Mazza Sr.

Mr. Joseph F. “Joey” Mazza, Sr., age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on December 13, 1922, Joseph was the son of the late Fedele and Maria Antoinette (Arcuri) Mazza. He was married to the former Dorothy “Dottie” Feldman. In 1966, Joey and Dottie established the Adams Travel Agency. Joey was a visionary in his business venture, and it grew into a successful and long-standing family concern. Joe always said that he had a full and wonderful life. There are no words to describe how much his children loved and admired their dad… he was truly a man of his word. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Amicable Lodge No. 0664 of Free and Accepted Masons (F&AM). Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Dottie; his daughters and son-in-law, Wendy and Dr. Hamid Moosavi, and Francesca Mazza, all of New Hartford; and his son, Dr. Joseph F. Mazza, Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL. Always close to his heart were the memories of his oldest daughter, Marlene “Becky” Mazza, who passed away in 1980, and infant Gina Marie in 1963. His legacy will also live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Gina and Andrew Anastos, JoAnna and Steve Sarrasin; Dr. Danielle and Paul Pimpinella, Esq., Dr. Christopher and Sarvi Moosavi; Kim and Frank Potter, Jami Bouras; and Alex, Jake, and Erik Mazza; his great-grandchildren, Logan, Marlee, Lily, Cameron, and Tate Joseph; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and his sister-in-law, Rosalin “Roz” Mazza, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rocco and Libby Barella and Robert Feldman, CPA, and his wife, Betty. Joey was blessed with many wonderful and fun-filled friendships, remembering many who preceded him. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anna Mazza, Marie Mazza, John J. Mazza, Francesca and Joseph Mastroianni, and Lawrence “Red” and Jenny Mazza. The family extends gratitude to Joey’s longtime physician, Dr. Matthew Ulahannan for his years of professional care and concern as well as nurse Colleen Moylan and her staff. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joseph’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. By family request, please refrain from floral offerings. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., Utica, NY 13501.
