Mr. John A. Juliano

DEERFIELD – Mr. John A. Juliano, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, with his family gathered at his bedside. It is with great hope, that he is now reunited in heaven with his parents, in-laws, and many beloved relatives and friends. Born in Utica on March 6, 1947, John was the son of the late Frank and Adeline (Rose) Juliano. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, Class of 1965. He was a veteran of the United States Army and also served as a reservist at the Elihu Root U.S. Army Reserve Center, where he forged many lasting friendships and strong bonds. On October 22, 1977, he married the former Vera Kudluk, and together they built a life grounded in love, respect, and devotion to family. Their bond stood the test of time, carrying them through the decades and filling their lives with countless cherished memories—especially their time spent traveling together. In retrospect, they were especially grateful for those earlier years when they were able to explore together, sharing experiences that brought them lasting joy and deep fulfillment. They were blessed to celebrate 49 years of marriage. John was a man of unwavering dedication and a strong work ethic who took great pride in providing for his family. He gained employment with the New York State Department of Transportation, where he worked as a pavement supervisor throughout Oneida County for 35 years. He was also a member of the CSEA Local 1000 and UNIDV. Concurrently, John could often be found tending bar and dispersing spirits at Alfredo’s during special events. During the winter months, he assisted his father with his snowplowing business, where the two formed a fastidious and efficient team. Coming from a traditional family background, John was a devoted son, brother, and family man. His loved ones were the center and strength of his life. As a father, he was strong, present, and deeply loving, offering guidance and care to his children and serving as a true example of fatherly devotion. He found immense joy in becoming “Papa” to his grandson, Franklin, cherishing the special bond they shared. The camaraderie they enjoyed while hunting was unmatched, with the venison serving as a shared reward. John took great pride in Franklin’s accomplishments and admired his determination. His joy only grew when Franklin blessed him with a great-grandson—a moment that filled him with delight and deep happiness. He took great pride in his home, often referring to it as “the house with pink shutters.” He chose the color himself—a detail Vera came to love—and together they created a warm and welcoming abode. John meticulously maintained the exterior, while Vera lovingly cared for the interior; together, they were a perfect complement to one another. They especially cherished hosting family gatherings together for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. John was a true outdoorsman and a passionate vintage car afficionado. He had a particular love for Corvettes, his ’57 Chevy, and his ’33 Willys. He was a proud member of a car club affectionately known as the “Sopranos.” A friendship that began in high school, turned into a brotherhood with his late dear friend, David Tucci-so many things came from that bond, notably their love for the Syracuse Nationals where they shared so many great times. John was also an accomplished cook who took pride in his preparations, he only liked his own sauce! Chili was another dish he prepared with care and skill, enjoyed by many. Cooking, sharing meals, and the entire process of preparation and serving were yet another meaningful bond between him and his late friend David. A proud member of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, he found comfort in his parish. He worshipped at Sunday Mass when he could. John is survived by his devoted wife, Vera; daughter, Kelly M. Juliano; grandson, Franklin J. Virkler and his fiancée Nina Felitto; and great-grandson, Neko; daughter, Andrea M. Valent and her children Luca, Nina, and Anna; beloved sister, Marianne V. Juliano; treasured aunts, Carmella Rose, Rosie Primarolo, and Antoinette Kelly; many cousins, especially Michael Juliano, and Joanie Doll; and two godchildren, Stephen Bosco, and Lori Tucciarone-Ambrosi. John was blessed to know many friendships throughout his life, but it would be remiss not to mention the closeness he shared with his cousins, Michael Juliano, Joanie Doll, and Joe and Kathy Barilla – all who have been of great, great support to John and Vera. Further special friendships include Tom and Mary Ann Ladd, Joe Annese, Paulie Tazzalino, Rich Wynn, Danny LoConti, Eddie Scanio, Dave Brosemer, and Phil Durante. John was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kalenik and Anna Kudluk; and many aunts and uncles. The Julianos would like to thank the staff of the U.S. Renal Care at the Masonic Home campus for the support and care they gave to John and his family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. Military honors will be conferred by the U.S. Army. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in John’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org/donate; envelopes will also be available at the service. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. When others wished John a good day, he would never fail to respond, “You have an even better day!”
