Jinita R. "Jah Jah Black" Frazier

UTICA – Jinita R. “Jah Jah Black” Frazier went home to the Lord after valiant efforts on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the age of 42. Born in New Hartford on June 14, 1983, Jinita was the daughter of Pamela Frazier and the late Jiro Black. She attended Conkling Elementary School and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, Class of 2001. She furthered her studies at MVCC. Jinita had a passion for doing hair and was known as one of the best braiders around. Her style and attire were unmatched. She was a true party girl, famously known for hosting unforgettable after-parties where the music, atmosphere, and energy carried on until morning. She truly had the market on these gatherings. You name it, Jinita said it, and she never held back. Her words were always delivered with a big smile, and her honesty was never taken personally, only remembered fondly. She was a loving and devoted mother who kept her family together throughout her illness. She gave serious thought to who would care for her children upon her passing, a decision that weighed heavily and lovingly on her heart. Reggae music lifted her soul and spirit. She felt the rhythm deeply and marched to the beat of her own drum. Jinita was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. Your secrets were always safe with her, which is a rare and grace-filled virtue. In her quiet moments, Jinita enjoyed playing games on her phone, trying her luck at the casino, and cooking for her family, with spaghetti and sauce being a favorite. Halloween was her most cherished holiday, and she never missed the opportunity to showcase a creative, sometimes slightly risqué, costume. Jinita believed in God and called upon Him in times of need. She is survived by her loving mother, Pamela Frazier; her beloved children, Najelique Frazier and Trina and his daughter Wynter, Naazir Frazier-Watkins, Jahnyah Frazier, Nashaun Frazier, Tyana Frazier, Nathaniel Frazier, and Noah Frazier; maternal grandmother, Louise (Mackey) Frazier; siblings, DeShauna Frazier, Shaqueen Frazier, James Wilson, and Daquan Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles; cousins, especially Shatiea who was her roadie; godmother, Stephanie King, godfather, Michael Pitts; and her dear friend, Ruth Ann Lawrence, who was her best friend and godmother to Nathaniel, their bond meant the world to them both. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, John Frazier; and her paternal grandparents, James and Helen Black. The family graciously thanks the staff at Wynn Hospital for their kindness and dedicated care of Jinita. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Shwe Win for offering courage and comfort, and to Dr. Alicia DeTraglia, her oncologist, and her staff for their unwavering guidance and support. The family also thanks the staff of the Regional Cancer Center for their welcoming, watchful, and engaging care, as well as the many family members and friends who prayed for Jinita and surrounded her with love. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jinita’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
