Jennie T. (Marchione) Mucitelli

Mrs. Jennie T. (Marchione) Mucitelli, age 82, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on May 7, 1931, Jennie was the daughter of the late John and Congetta (Perretta) Marchione. A lifelong Utica area resident, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. On June 14, 1952, at St. Anthony of Padua Church she was joined in marriage with Frank A. Mucitelli and the couple’s 51-year union was filled with devotion and a continuation of their regard for one another as best friends. Her beloved Frank passed away on September 8, 2003. Jennie began her work career as a teenager at the Olympic Theater and then was employed by the General Electric Company, Dan-Dee Donuts and Fay’s Drugs. She subsequently gained employment at Utica Mutual Insurance Co. as a mail clerk, retiring in 1992. In her retirement years, she continued her hard work ethic as a monitor and office clerk for the Utica City School System. Affectionately known as "Aunt Jennie" to her family, she was generous, dedicated, committed, upbeat, and full of life. Her days were without end and she will be remembered as a true friend and neighbor in every sense of their meaning. Her pastimes included knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and meticulously decorating miniature Christmas trees graciously sharing the products of all her endeavors with loved ones. She also enjoyed the sport of bowling. Jennie maintained and enjoyed her summer home at White Lake where her family gathered for many memorable occasions. She also practiced her faith during those months at St. Mary of the Snow in Otter Lake. She held memberships with the Epsilon Chapter of Beta Chi Sorority, The Christ Child Society, the Knights of St. John’s Ladies Auxiliary, and the St. Theresa Society where she was currently president. Dedicated to causes and her community, she was active and volunteered for the ARC, the Boilermaker for a period of 13 years, the American Heart Association Run and Walk and was a member of the Central New York Parkinson’s Support Group. Her social commitments could also be seen in her involvement as an inspector with the Board of Elections as she assisted people at H.R. Jones School on Election Days. She was an active parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church and those who were involved with the parish festivals were amazed by her organizational skills and her "take charge" personality- especially in the process and production of the pizza fritta! This talent was inherited from a long family line of relatives who were proudly involved with the church. Jennie often relied on her faith to guide her through troubled times and prayed diligently for others who suffered from illness of any kind, often giving them courage and joy through her zest for Christian brotherhood and power of prayer. Jennie is survived by her beloved children and their spouses, JoAnn and John R. Russo, Sr. of Utica, John M. and Kathleen Mucitelli of NC, Cynthia F. Mucitelli and her husband Ivan Guarnizo of FL, Lori M. and David Carrier of Woodgate, and Frank S. and Nina Mucitelli of Deerfield; and her grandchildren, John R. Russo, Jr., Justin and Andrea Mucitelli, Janelle Mucitelli, Melanie and James Benedict, JaNay Mucitelli, JoVon Mucitelli, and JaCob Mucitelli; and a precious great-granddaughter Skylie O’Connor-Russo. She also leaves her loving and devoted sister, Loretta M. Francis of Utica; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws Sarah Marchione of Syracuse, and Tony Laino of Utica. Jennie was blessed with many loyal and fulfilling friendships throughout her life, with special mention of Deacon Bill Dischiavo, Marie Zegarelli, Marie Cucci, Marlene Cucci, Terri DeSantis, and Nina Lansing. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Jerry Pastorelli, Mary R. Lomonico, and Connie and Joseph Razzano; her brothers and sister-in-law, James Marchione, Charles and Nancy Marchione, Joseph Marchione, and Samuel Marchione; and her in-laws, Albert Francis, Mary Laino, Bernard and Virginia Mucitelli, and Thomas and Rose Mucitelli. The family wishes to thank Dr. Emile Wassel, Dr. Yekaterina Kashtanova, and Dr. Ashok Patel for their kindness and dedication to her care. Jennie and her family were also comforted by the staffs of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center 5th Floor and the St. Luke’s Home Barton East. Her “tablemates” Stan, Lottie, and Jennie were a daily delight. Her spiritual needs were nourished by Pastor Mark Kaminski who ministered blessings and prayers. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The St. Anthony Ladies Auxiliary #321 of the Knights of St. John will commence at the funeral home at 6:30 for ritualistic services. In lieu of floral offerings, expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Jennie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. Entombment will take place privately in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
