Mr. Jeffrey J. "Jeff" Starczewski

WHITESBORO – Mr. Jeffrey J. “Jeff” Starczewski, age 64, passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, September 5, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Jeffrey was born in Utica on July 4, 1958, to the late John C. Jr. and Anne (Lasek) Starczewski. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in New York Mills and then graduated from Whitesboro High School/Class of 1976. Jeff went on to further his studies at MVCC. On November 17, 1984, he married the love of his life, the former Valerie L. Gozy. The pair shared almost 38 wonderful years of marriage together. Jeff was a legendary husband, father, “Pop Pop”, and friend. For over 38 years, Jeff was under the employ of Trenton Technology. He was hired as a purchaser and worked his way to the role of Production Manager. During his time at Trenton, he cultivated many fond relationships that he wouldn’t trade for the world! Jeff had a heart of gold. He was a selfless man, who went out of his way to see to the needs of others. Moreover, he was known for profoundly impacting anyone in his presence. Jeff loved to golf and fish at any moment that time would permit. Most often, you could find him delighting in time spent at the St. Lawrence River. He was an Umpire and member of the Mohawk Valley Baseball Umpire Association. Additionally, he was a member of the New Hartford Post 1376 Sons of the American Legion. He thoroughly enjoyed each and every relationship he made in everything that he did. Ultimately, the highlight of his life was getting to spend time with his grandkids, whom he loved very much, as they did him. Jeff was man of God and was a devoted member of the City Hope Church. Jeff is survived by his wife, Valerie; his daughter and son-in-law, Maranda and Jason Engelhart; and his son and daughter-in-law, Former Captain US Army Andrew Starczewski and his wife Brittany. He will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Makenna, Shea, and Blake Engelhart; and Auston, and Harper Starczewski. Jeff will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Kirk and Maria Starczewski, Aaron and Tracy Starczewski, Bryan Starczewski and Jennifer Heckman, and Kevin and Stephanie Starczewski, as well as Terri Starczewski, who was like a sister to him. Jeff leaves behind his uncles and aunts; nieces and nephews that held a very special place in his heart; his in-laws, Kimberly “Kim” and Fred Testa; and his foster daughter, Kristie Sweezey. He was blessed with many special friends, especially acknowledging Chuckie, Evans, and Joey Cakes. Jeff was predeceased by many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his father-in-law Abraham “Junior” Gozy Jr. Abraham’s wife, Linda J. (Wimett) Gozy was more than simply Jeff’s mother-in-law, he loved her beyond compare. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff on the 6th floor at MVHS at St. Luke’s campus for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Mohawk Valley Church Assemblies of God, 9427 Maynard Dr., Marcy. Jeffrey’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Church. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
