Mr. Jeffrey Scott Jones Sr.

UTICA - Mr. Jeffrey Scott Jones, Sr., age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Utica on November 9, 1949, Jeffrey was the son of the late Hugh R. and Eleanor (Kaelin) Jones. Raised and educated in North Utica, he was a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1967 and he served as Class Treasurer. He attended the Utica School of Commerce where he earned an Associate degree in Accounting and was president of the Student Council. He continued his studies at the SUNY Institute of Technology where he was awarded a Bachelor degree in Accounting. At one time, he was wed to the former Catherine L. Bilodeau and from that union came the blessing of four children. Jeffrey worked at Utica Radiator as a Personnel Manager. More recently, he held various positions with Oneida County. Jeffrey was passionate about his family. He provided for their needs and readily expressed his love to them. He was big-hearted, helpful, and offered encouragement to his family. No matter the length of time apart, he always missed his loved ones. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and was courageous in battling the obstacles and adversities in his life. Jeff was involved as an organizer and head of various Boilermaker events and he was punctual in attending any affair. He offered his time to the United Way and enjoyed coaching baseball. He organized several of his high school class reunions. He was an amazing dancer, from tap to contemporary, and was a gifted vocalist. He loved music and its many genres. He was a big New York sports fan of the Yankees and Giants. He loved to play golf and he enjoyed spending time wrestling with his canine companions. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Jeffrey is survived by his daughters and their loves, Emily L. and Francis Roberts of Whitesboro, and Eileen E. Jones and Robert J. Lewis of Boonville; his sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey S., Jr. and Rebecca Jones of Whitesboro, and Jared W. Jones of Utica and their mother, Catherine L. Jones; and his grandchildren, Jordan Roberts, Valarie Roberts; Zander Lewis, and Emma Lewis. He also leaves his sister Kay and her husband Rick Szucs of FL; his brother Dennis and his wife Kathy Jones; his aunt, Ruthie Mather of Frankfort; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially acknowledging Bonnie Holmes; and his canine companions, “Chance” and “Doc”. The family offers their sincere thanks to the staff of the Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the care and professional regard rendered to Jeffrey during his stay. Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jeffrey’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday at 5:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Pastor Andrew Traub officiating the ceremony.
