Jeanette Ann (DeMarco) DeCicco

UTICA – Jeanette Ann (DeMarco) DeCicco, age 80, unexpectedly went home to the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024, surrounded by close friends. Born in Utica on August 17, 1943, Jeanette was a daughter of the late Emilio and Rose (Colucci) DeMarco. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1961. Jeanette's heart found its match when she met Anthony “Tony” DeCicco, and they wed on January 4, 1969. Jeanette and Anthony spent many busy years together working diligently at their marriage and careers, all while raising their beloved children. They would often unwind by dancing it out in the kitchen, as Jeannette always had the radio going. Anthony would often ask Jeanette for a “booge” which was his personal slang word for a kiss. Anthony and Jeanette shared 28 years prior to his passing in 1997. Jeanette was employed for 30 years with Oneida National Bank, which later became Fleet Bank, and is now known as Bank of America. She never missed a day of work and enjoyed every minute of those 30 years. Jeanette was comfortable with her long-standing position, reminding her kids that she “just worked there,” she “didn’t own the place.” This would be her answer whenever her kids asked for a car! Jeanette can be remembered as big-hearted with a contagious laugh. She was a worrywart and could often be found easing her worries with shopping sprees. After each shopping spree she would come home with “one or two” “cazzatelles” or knick-knacks, usually found in some clearance bin. In the last 5 years, if you ever saw Jeanette, she was always accompanied by her canine sidekick, Annalise. Her children understood that Annalise came first in their mother's heart. In her later years, Jeanette enjoyed special trips to the casino. Her children were immensely proud of their mother for moving to a different state to start a new life in her late 70s, never forgetting about the dear memories she made back home. Jeanette started every Monday thinking about the upcoming Sunday dinners because she knew that it meant she did not have to cook! She only had two duties at Sunday dinner, preparing the salad and indulging in the pasta. Jeanette was devoted to her Roman Catholic faith. Jeanette is survived by her children and their spouses, Robin Hellinger, Jim and Tracy DeCicco, Wendy and Larry Futter, Laurie Leaf, and Tony and Michelle DeCicco. She treasured the memory of her late grandson, Daniel DeCicco. She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Lacey DeCicco, Michael Hellinger, Matthew Hellinger, Kelcey and Mario Starace, Jimmy DeCicco, Alexandria Peck, Brenden Futter, Brody Futter, Matthew and Jessica DeCicco, Brittany DeCicco, Nicole DeCicco, and Gary Scales; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Nicolas, Bella, Madison, Sally, Franco, Abiline, Mason, Murphy, Myrrah, Mava, and Giovanni. She fondly remembered her sister and brother-in-law who preceded her, Barbara “Barb” and Richard Yerdon; and is additionally survived by her brother, Tom DeMarco (the late Marie (Kopek) DeMarco); her cousin Marilyn Wester and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; in-laws Carolyn Dousharm (the late John Dousharm), Johann DeCicco (the late Joseph "Big Joe" DeCicco), Denise DeCicco (the late Carmen DeCicco), and the late Phyllis (DeCicco) Smith; her partner, Mike Klein, whom she shared 15 years with before moving to NC; her dear friends, Irene Soletti, Joanne "Sunshine" Marrotta, Michael Hill, Cheryl and Bill Weaver, Morris Farinella; and her beloved canine, Annalise. She was additionally preceded by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carmen and Angeline (Guerriero) DeCicco; and her nephew, Michael DeCicco. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Stephen Mitchell and the staff from Mitchell Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Raleigh Memorial Park in North Carolina for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Jeanette’s honor may be made to the Ronald McDonald House online at rmhc.org/donate; envelopes will also be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jeanette's Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St Anthony and St Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.
