Mrs. Jane N. (Trotta) Talerico

UTICA - Mrs. Jane N. (Trotta) Talerico, age 100, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Sitrin Health Care Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on November 12, 1917, Jane was the daughter of the late Louis “Luigi” and Colette (Sacetti) Trotta. She was raised and educated in Watertown before returning to Utica. She attended Utica Free Academy and then continued her education at night school where she learned to type and earned her diploma. On June 1, 1940, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, she married Frank F. Talerico with whom she shared 67 years, and she missed him since his passing on May 8, 2008. They complemented each other’s traits and together as parents they raised a beautiful family. During her younger years, Jane worked at the Boston Store, waitressed at several area restaurants, and lastly worked and was a fixture at the Florentine Pastry Shop. For the majority of her life she was a devoted homemaker. Jane was very generous in remembering others, and always took to heart the needs of those she loved. During her 100th birthday celebration, she was overjoyed to see all of her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of her unique humor that will be captured in the memories of her family for years to come. Jane was very appreciative of the help and support she received over the years from her devoted children, her brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Olive, and her brother-in-law and his wife, Tom and Lucy, as well as her treasured grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolee and Ernest Swald; her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deborah Talerico, Frank and April Talerico, and Steven and Donna Talerico; her grandchildren, Melissa Swald Camman, Beth and Rich Nagashima, and Kathy and David Lupia; Robert Talerico, and Joseph Talerico; Gina Talerico, Dominique and Freddy Candelaria, and Sam Talerico. She held close to her heart the memory of her grandson-in-law, Peter Camman. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Sophia Lupia, Ava Lupia, and Nico Lupia; her many devoted nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Olive Trotta, and Tom and Lucy Talerico. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dominic “Duke” and Antoinette Trotta, and Anthony Trotta; her sister and brother-in-law, Mimi and Joseph Cavallaro; and her nephews and a niece, Donald Michael Trotta, Donald and Elaine Talerico. The family is grateful to the office staff and Jane’s friends at the Steinhorst Apartments, and her Nurse Practitioner Michelle Chambrone for their kind acts and helping hands. Also, for the care and compassion she received from the staff and her friends at Cedarbrook and the Magnolia House of the Sitrin Health Care Center. Their kindness and sensitive nature are so appreciated. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jane's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass.
