Jamie Lynn Shingler

Jamie Lynn Shingler, age 37, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 20, 1979, Jamie was the daughter of Cynthia (Majeskie) and Stephan Pietsch. Raised in Utica, she attended St. Agnes Grammar School, J.F.K. Middle School, and T.R. Proctor High School. Jamie worked as a waitress at various area restaurants. She was noted for her friendly personality and was often requested by the patrons. At home, she served her family extra servings of love and security every day, and they loved her so much. She was creative and went above and beyond to make great memories. Jamie honored holiday traditions including coloring Easter eggs, making Bunny-shaped cakes and Christmas cookies, and celebrating the important days in the lives of her family and friends. She was known for her great generosity and was always the first to offer a hand and heart in time of need. She was passionate about many things in her life, especially supporting Pittsburgh Steelers Football and Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey, and making memories with her friends at Saranac Thursdays and attending the Annual State Fair. Her two favorite foods were Snyder’s Barbeque Potato Chips only found in Pittsburgh, and Utica Chicken Riggies. Although she was born in Pittsburgh, she loved being in Utica because her mom and dad embraced her and her children with so much love. She became a mom at the age of 23. Her first-born, Shyanne Marie, was nicknamed “Mini-Me” and Jamie loved her so much. Adalynn Grace was her second daughter and mommy adored her Addy Bear who was a ‘fashionista’ with bows in her hair and too-too outfits. Her girls had two different personalities and Jamie loved them both and individually. She would want them to remember fun times they shared like spontaneous ‘pizza, wings, and a movie’ nights at home. It is important to her that they stay close to family and to never forget her immense love for them. Jamie is survived by her mom and dad, Cynthia and Stephan; her daughters who were the loves of her life and her first priority, Shyanne Marie, age 13, and her father Michael Kagan, and Adalynn Grace, age 3, and her father Shane Harrington; and Shane’s parents, David and Gail Harrington, who have been so kind. She also leaves her aunts and uncles, Sue Granato, Michael and Ellen Majeskie, Mary Morosco, and Joseph Majeskie; great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins of two generations. She had many friendships forged by her outgoing personality, and the family rejoices in that fact. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Joseph LaBoon and Marlene LaBoon; and her cousins, Marlana Granato, and Madyson Granato. The family extends thanks to the Utica Police Department Officers Trevisani and Acquaviva for their compassion and incredible sensitivity. Visitation will be held Monday from 2:30-4:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jamie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday afternoon at 4:30 at the conclusion of visitation with Rev. Rose Granato officiating the ceremony.
