Jah'zeir Johnson

UTICA – Jah’zeir Johnson, age 17, was taken from this world all too soon when he passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020. Jah’zeir was born on August 24, 2003, in Rochester NY. He was the son of Christina Ware and Matthew Johnson. He was raised in both Syracuse, and Utica, but Utica is what he knew to be home. Jah'zeir was a lovable person with his over-the-top humor and his dancing skills. He was able to pick up the vibe with anyone he was around to have a good time, especially with his friends and family. Jah’zeir had a love for basketball, gaining him the nickname “Shotmoney” because every time he shot the ball it was water. His passion to enjoy the moment with everyone was what Jah’zeir loved to do the most. He always had a listening ear to wisdom and applied what he was taught and adding his own twist to achieve his goals. He never lived for taking losses, he would always find a way to make things better and more efficient. This is what made Jah’zeir the person we know and love today. Jah’zeir looked out for his family and friends and would give his last to see the ones he loved with a smile on their face. From playing his favorite basketball game 2k to enjoying time with his loved ones, the memories we have with Jah’zeir will forever and always be in our memory. Jah’zeir is survived by his parents, Christina, and James Ware; brothers, James Ware Jr., James Ware lll, Kyshawn Ware, and Eddie Jr.; sisters, Niashia Ware, Tatyana Ware, Aliayia Johnson, Lamika Hammet, and Dashaye Miller; Godmother, Cassandra Blackshear; special friends, Nate, Moses, Tyrus, JJ, and Rasheen all of Utica, NY; A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jah’zeir was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Carleen Lester; sister, Zikeya Lester; great-grandfather, Carl Lester, and uncle, Freddy Lester. The hour between 10:00 – 11:00 on Monday, December 28, 2020 will be dedicated to Jah'zeir’s friends to pay their final respects at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Social distancing and registration for contact tracing will be implemented. Also, a mask covering your nose and mouth will be required. A Home Going Service for Jah'zeir will be held at a private time. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
