Italo F. Barile

Mr. Italo F. Barile, age 90, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born in Ausonia, province of Frosinone, Italy on February 22, 1920, Italo was the son of the late Luigi and Maria Christina (Petronio) Barile. He was raised and educated in Italy. He served in the Italian Armed Forces during World War II where he was held as a POW, a prisoner of war. It was in Italy on August 28, 1948 that he married the former Antonia Angelucci with whom he shared a loving and wonderful union of 60 years. At one time, Italo worked as a landscaper with Pat’s Nursery, the position from which he retired. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his loved ones were everything to him. Of all his life accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He was an avid gardener, producing beautiful fruit trees, grape producing vines, and verdant vegetables. He was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Italo is survived by his wife, Antonia; his daughter, Maria Cristina Barile; his grandchildren, Catherine “Cathy” and Jason Duffy, and Antoniette and Anthony Belmonte; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Nicholas Duffy, and Adrianna Belmonte, all of Frankfort. Survivors also include his sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Luigi Piccolino of Italy; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, in Italy. He was predeceased by his brothers, Antonio, and Vincenzo; his sister, Christina; his in-laws, Pasquelina and Fortunato Varone of Ausonia, Italy, Michelina Angelucci of Italy, Ersilia and Michael Capelli, Antonio Angelucci, and Maria Papa. In keeping with Italo’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Italo’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
