Mr. Isaac G. Moody, Jr.

STRATFORD, NJ/UTICA – Mr. Isaac G. Moody, Jr., age 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, after a hard fight with chronic health conditions. Born in Utica on October 12, 1958, Isaac was the son of Elder Mary Hawkins and the late Isaac Guiton Moody, Sr. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1979. Isaac later attended Wilmington University where he was proud to have earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Studies in 2016. At one time Isaac was wed to Annie Lee Smith, a union which brought the blessing of their son, Brandon. Through most of his professional career, Isaac held several different positions, most notably as an Office Manager with the military at Fort Dix, and more recently, as the Office Manager at the Sea Gull Lighting warehouse in Burlington, N.J. Isaac was the life of the party. He was a “road warrior” and “BBQ Master” who loved to travel and man a grill at the request of many family and friends or in his spare time. He was a musically gifted performing musician and filled many church services with his deep and powerful voice singing the Lord's praises with classics such as “My Soul has Been Anchored” and “God is Able” often accompanied by his choir “The Voices of Praise” as well as the “Sunbury Community Choir” both of which he formed and directed. He was a believer in Christ, valued positive energy, keeping it real, and found no greater joy than being surrounded by his family and friends. Additionally, Isaac always enjoyed camping, fishing and crabbing, shooting billiards, bowling, ping pong, and of course a good game of cards. Isaac is survived by his beloved mother, Elder Mary Hawkins, and her husband Ezel Hawkins; his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon G., and Katie T. Moody; cherished grandchildren, Dominic G. Moody, and Miles Brooks-Anthony Moody; sisters, Henrietta Troutman, and Rozena Hawkins; and brother and sister-in-law, Willie J. and Valerie Dexter. He fondly remembered his brothers who preceded him, Ezel “Poncho” Moody, David E. Moody, Sr., and Eric De-Arnold Hawkins. He is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many special friends. He was further preceded by his maternal grandparents, Jerome Sr. and Viola (McClain) Price; and paternal grandparents, Will and Cora Moody. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at House of God Church, 1304 Genesee St. Isaac’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
