Mrs. Hilda Isabel Rodriguez

GAINESVILLE, GA – On Monday, October 9, 2023, Mrs. Hilda Isabel Rodriguez, age 66 passed away after a long illness, having fulfilled her life’s purposes. She was surrounded by the comforting presence of her husband Jose by her side and loving prayers from her entire family. Born in Bronx, NY on October 10th, 1956, Hilda was the cherished daughter of the late Efrain Rodriguez and Carmen Melendez. At a young age, along with her siblings, she went to Cuamo P.R. and had the good fortune to be raised by her paternal and maternal grandparents. In the mid-1960s, Hilda returned to Utica to be reunited with her mother and family. She was an alumna of Rosevelt and Conkling Elementary, and UFA. She was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Jose Corona. From the very beginning of their relationship, Jose adored and honored his love for Hilda. Many would say she was his queen. He made her feel special and loved her to the very end. Hilda felt so blessed to have had the harmony that her husband brought to her. Hilda's professional journey began at Abelove's Linens in Utica. Later in life, she moved to Georgia and devoted over 20 years of service to Fieldale Farms Poultry Producers in Gainesville. In her youth, Hilda was adventurous and challenging. She was fearless and enjoyed her Hispanic heritage. She had her heart set on getting a license plate that said “Nuyorican...”, but someone beat her to it. Hilda had her own way of doing things and had no problem telling others how she felt. Feral cats found their way to her homes, and Hilda and Jose fed them well. As a couple, they never had children; their cats ruled. Hilda was known for staying connected with her loved ones through Facebook and took pride in pampering herself with manicures and pedicures, always accompanied by her sister, Vickie. In her spiritual journey, she was a strong believer and trusted in Jesus. She depended on her Lord for spiritual well-being. Hilda leaves behind a loving family, her devoted husband Jose, her children Monceny Mendoza and his wife Amber, Roberto Llopart, and she cherished the memory of her daughter Monica Mendoza. She also had four grandsons. Her siblings include Ana “Lily” and Jose Colon Jr., Efrain “Lilo” and Dora (Colon) Rodriguez, Victoria Nunez and Jose Efrain Campos, Miguel Rodriguez, Jeanette Rodriguez, and Jose Rodriguez. Furthermore, her nieces and nephews include Jose Colon, Jr. and Iris, Pepin Colon, William Colon, Janelle Colon (whom Hilda referred to as her daughter) and Lavar Robinson, Karey Ann Rodriguez, Kattie Justina Rodriguez, Nathan McPherson, Carmen Anita Taylor, and many great-nieces and great-nephews; her step-parents, Carmelo and Dawn Cotto; as well as members of her husband’s family. She also had many great friends but had a history and fond memory of Frankito Calaprice. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Cemetery.
