Mrs. Helen P. (Kupiec) Novak

Mrs. Helen P. (Kupiec) Novak, age 89, of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on October 30, 1921, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Galica) Kupiec. She was raised and educated locally. In August of 1943 she married Francis Novak with whom she shared 40 years prior to his passing on October 14, 1983; as a couple, they enjoyed a compatible union, always understanding of each other’s needs and focused on family. Helen was a dedicated employee of Hamilton College until her retirement in 1982, a position which allowed her to work alongside her sister. A loving provider, she cared for her family, especially her grandchildren who remember her active role in their upbringing. She prepared the family meal at 4:30 every day, an enjoyable time they shared each other’s company and conversation. She also possessed a subtle, but blunt sense of humor. She was skilled at storytelling, and was known to enjoy her sweet tooth. Helen was devoted to her Catholic faith her entire life. Helen cherished in her heart the memory of her daughter, Susan A. Hoole, who passed away on November 23, 2008, and with whom she resided during her later years. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Colleen and Harold Crouch, Jr. of Whitesboro, Terry and Joe Laurer of Clinton, and Ronald and Laura Hoole of Floyd; and her great-grandchildren, Logan Crouch, Kelly and Kayla Crouch, Joey, Cameron, and Jordan Laurer, and Ryan and Alex Hoole. Survivors also include her brother, Joe Kupiec of N. Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Kupiec, and Sammy Kupiec; and her sisters, Genevieve “Jenny” Williams, Mary “Mikie” Bitteker, and Stella Furmanski. The family is grateful to the Heritage Health Care Center 6th floor staff for the compassion and care they rendered to Helen. Visitation will be held Thursday (today) from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Anthony P. LaFache officiating. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
