Mrs. Helen (Rotundo) Loudis

Mrs. Helen (Rotundo) Loudis, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc. after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. At the time of her passing, her family was by her side. Born in Utica on September 21, 1935, Helen was the daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (Spera) Rotundo. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and a proud member of the National Honor Society. Helen shared a 43 year union with Rocco A. Loudis; theirs was a marriage of love and commitment which set a fine example to their children. Rocco passed away on November 3, 2001. Helen was employed by the Savings Bank of Utica for over 15 years, a position that graced and gratified her life in many ways. Helen and her husband relocated to Florida in 1994, and in 2003 she returned to her Utica family. Helen dedicated her entire life to her children and grandchildren. She loved them very much and they honored her with their reciprocal love… and it sustained her. Blessed with a compassionate heart and warm nature, these were traits which were so evident to her family throughout their lives. Reading stimulated her mind and music mellowed her heart. Helen is survived by her devoted daughter, Barbara A. Clark and her husband Stephen C. of Clinton; and her devoted son, Robert A. Loudis and his wife Shonna of Weston, FL; and her ever cherished grandchildren, Michael J. Loudis, Ryan A. Loudis, Ilana Loudis; and Devin Grabski. She also leaves her beloved sister, Theresa Matt of New Hartford; her nieces and nephews, Louis and Sandra Matt, Robert and Susanne Matt, Mary Nudo, and Deborah and Neil Zaccari; and her brother-in-law, Salustiano “Sal” Martinez. Also close to her heart were the Clark family of Utica and the Bibliowicz family of Florida. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Marcello G. Rotundo; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph F. and Mayme Loudis; her father-in-law’s second wife, Elinor E. Loudis; her sister-in-law, Carmelita Martinez; brother-in-law, Louis G. Matt, Sr.; and her best friend, Ruth Bibliowicz. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Cedar Unit at the Presbyterian Home; their compassion and commitment in caring for Helen was incredible. It was a source of solace and comfort during Helen’s stay. The family will honor Helen’s life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Presbyterian Home for Central NY/Palliative Care in lieu of flowers; envelopes will be available at the service. Entombment will take place privately in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum alongside her husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
