Helen T. (Godlewski) Dudek

Mrs. Helen T. (Godlewski) Dudek, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the St. Luke’s Home with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on August 1, 1924, Helen was the daughter of the late Antoni and Klementina (Wlostowski) Godlewski. Raised and educated locally, she attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School. In 1947 she married Theodore J. Dudek who passed away on July 5, 1970; they shared a strong and lasting bond of love. During World War II, Helen worked as an assembler at Utica Cutlery, and later held a position at Doeskin Paper Products as a production worker. She lastly worked at Mele Manufacturing, the job from which she retired. Helen was spirited, full of life, and devoted to her family, and above all, her children and grandchildren. She relished the holidays and the joys of gathering with family, and she enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. She was a faithful Catholic woman and proud of her Polish heritage. She was a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Helen is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Maryrose Dudek of Frankfort, and Theodore, Jr. and Judith Dudek of Kentucky; her grandchildren, Brian and Dawn Dudek, Mark and Kelly Dudek, Michelle and Mike Along, and Lisa and Peterson Jerome; and her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Giana, and Carina Dudek; Joseph and Andrew Dudek; Noah Along; JohnPaul, Isabella, Gabriella Jerome, and a beautiful blessing of a great-granddaughter, Sophia, who was born the morning of Helen’s passing. In addition, she leaves many nieces, especially Lorre Falange, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws Adeline Kozlowski of Lockport, NY, Virginia Virginia of CA, and Doris Dudek of Buffalo. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Stanley Connor; nephew Robert Connor; and in-laws Roman Dudek, Eugene Kozlowski, and Chester Dudek. The family is grateful to the nurses and staff of Willow Park Assisted Living and the St. Luke’s Home for the comfort and care shown to Helen. In keeping with Helen’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Helen’s honor to St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in lieu of flowers; envelopes will be available at the service. Committal and interment will take place graveside in St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Cemetery.
