Mr. Harry P. Ingalls

Mr. Harry P. Ingalls, Retired Sergeant/NYPD, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 in the comfort and dignity of his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Washington Heights in Manhattan, on October 16, 1928, Harry was the son of the late Harold O. and Mary (O’Sullivan) Ingalls. He was raised and educated in Manhattan. From high school, Harry joined the United States Marine Corps and at a young age honorably served his country at the end of World War II and during the Korean Conflict overseas. He was married to the former Patricia Carey with whom he shared a 40-year union. After his military service and in line with his desire to ‘serve and protect’, Harry embarked upon a career as a New York City Police Officer, a calling that spanned 23 years and culminated in his retirement with the rank of Sergeant. He then relocated to the Mohawk Valley where he worked in Consulting and Private Investigation. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia; and children, John Ingalls of PA, Danny Ingalls, and Maureen and Tim Kloek, all of NY, Tricia Ingalls and Chris Burns of New Hartford, Shawn and Amanda Ingalls of Whitesboro, David Gayton of LA, Tom and Ryan Gayton of FL, Kathy and Lori Gelardi, and Shyhra and Brian Bennett, all of LA; his 15 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He will also be remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bill Mooney of MI; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Pat Ingalls of NY; his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Tom and Bonnie Carey, Linda and Leo Ross, and Debra Bevins. He was predeceased by his grandchildren, Derek Gayton, and Brittany Gayton; his sister, Maureen Ingalls; and his faithful canines, Princess and Duke. The family is grateful to the staff of the Deerfield Family Practice, and the personnel of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for their care and compassion. John P. Croghan with Military Honors conferred.
