Gloria M. Menesini

Mrs. Gloria M. (Baldasseroni) Menesini, age 82, of Utica, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her family by her side. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 10, 1925, Gloria was the daughter of the late Emil and Jean (Lupori) Baldasseroni. Raised and educated in Pittsburgh, she was a 1943 graduate of South Hills High School. On December 27, 1945 she married John Menesini at St. Justin’s Catholic Church in Pittsburgh. As “partners through life”, they shared a loving and devoted union of 62 years. Gloria worked as an executive secretary for many years at the St. Dominic’s Home for Children in Blauvelt, NY. Her love for children continued even when she relocated to Utica. Her family was her life, and she was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She taught her family to celebrate the joy of the holidays and appreciate the beauty of nature. She also taught them to smile and to be kind at all times. Gloria enjoyed a simple life surrounded by her loved ones and she was appreciative of every kindness that was done for her. During her spare time, she often crocheted, knitted, and cross-stitched. She loved to read, particularly Sidney Sheldon novels, and held dear the memories of her many lifetime travels with her husband. She also took pleasure in a good game of cards and Scrabble. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Peekskill, NY. Gloria is survived by her husband, John; her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Ronald Gaetano of Utica, Betty “Bunny” and Thomas Muehlbauer of Pittsburgh, PA,and Lori “Carebear” and John Giardiello of Garrison, NY. She held close to her heart the memory of her son, Thomas John Menesini, who passed away in 1976. Survivors also include her grandchildren, Kirk, Rick, Scott, Johnny, Heidi, Gina, Lauren, and Lindsey and her husband Robert; her great-grandchildren, Casey, Alexandra “Lexy”, Dylan, Vanna, Samantha, and Sebastian; and her granddogs, “Sweety Pie” the toy poodle, and "Princess" the cockapoo. In addition, she leaves her sister, Betty Burkhart of Tallahassee, FL; her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was also blessed with many dear and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Baldasseroni. The family extends thanks to the nurses and staff of the stroke unit of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center; Nancy Harringshaw, the director of Wiley Hall of the Masonic Care Community of NY; Maryann, Stacy, and Chuck for all the care and attention offered to Gloria; and the many other caregivers too numerous to mention. In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gloria’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Gloria’s honor to Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
