Mr. Giuseppe "Joseph" Nistico

UTICA - Mr. Giuseppe “Joseph” Nistico, age 88, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare. Born in Cropani, province of Catanzaro, Italy on September 26, 1932, Giuseppe was the son of the late Vincenzo “Vincent” and Maria (Marchio) Nistico. He was raised and educated in Italy. On December 14, 1958 he married the love of his life, (former) Caterina Rizzo with whom he shared 58 years prior to her passing on October 31, 2017. Joseph was a master mason working construction with various companies and was subsequently employed by the Utica City School District in its Maintenance Department, the position from which he retired. Joe loved playing cards with his pals and later going to Casino Resorts. He was a master gardener and his tomatoes were the best. He enjoyed many family dinners with his family at his side. He practiced his Catholic faith as a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Joseph is survived by his daughters and their loves, Maria Nistico and husband Cesare Cimino, Angelina Mercurio and Brian Noggle, and Margherita and Randall Jackson; his son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Tricia Tomaino Nistico; his grandchildren, Giovanni and Deborah Cimino, Caterina “Catia” Cimino and husband Luca Chiauzzi; Eugenio and Mallory Mercurio, and Joseph Mercurio and Melody Tabolt, and their father Luigi Mercurio; Benjamin and Tesla Jackson, Zachary and Jessica Jackson, and Sabrina and David Everts; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Gaia, Cecilia and two more on the way; sister, Ada Loprete; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Cynthia Nistico, and Antonio “Tony” and Lina Nistico. He also leaves his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Margherita Manoiero and brother-in-law Giuseppe “Joseph” Loprete and his nephew, Joey Loprete. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Giuseppe’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday at noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. All COVID protocols will be followed at the funeral home and at the church.
