Mrs. Gina E. (Camerota) LoParco

UTICA - Mrs. Gina E. (Camerota) LoParco, age 89, crossed over with the love of her daughters in her heart, on Friday, February 24, 2017. Born in Utica on July 30, 1927, Gina was the daughter of the late Angelo and Elisabetta (Granata) Camerota. She attended T.R. Proctor High School. On June 21, 1947 she married Frank L. LoParco with whom she shared 61 years of love, respect, and at times, a very spirited union. Frank passed away April 14, 2009. Gina was the co-owner and operator of The Bridal Garden on Auburn Avenue. Her mind entertained intricate details in meeting her mission to provide the bride with the most beautiful gown for her wedding day. Gina retired in 1979. Gina was a woman of quiet strength and great determination. She was a good listener, and the wisdom in her heart gave her the grace to never judge or criticize others. For relaxation, she loved to play Scrabble and woe to her opponents when they saw her competitive side! She also had a passion for gardening and a keen eye when antiquing. She was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Gina’s greatest blessing was her beloved daughters who cared for her to the very end. Gina is survived by her daughters, Carol Elswick, and Lorrie LoParco; and her sister, Sylvia Simonette of Ilion. She also leaves her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Mary Camerata, Joanne Camerota-Grimaldi, Mary LoParco, and Joanne LoParco; and her cherished canine companions, Schotzie, Ruby, and Gizmo; each held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Camerata, and Daniel Camerota; and her in-laws. The family is grateful to Dr. Jeffrey Amidon for his kindness and compassion; Home Health Care Aides, Lejuana, and Ida for their loving care; and the staff of the St. Luke’s Home/Barton East who were accommodating and attentive to Gina and her girls. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gina’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday at 1:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Entombment will take place in Christ Our Savior Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
