Gerrod Edward Lanaux, II

UTICA - Mr. Gerrod Edward Lanaux, II, age 31, went into the hands of the Lord when he passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Born in Utica on December 9, 1987, Gerrod was the son of Gerrod D. Lanaux and Roxanne (Karleskent) Lanaux. He was also blessed with the love and guidance of his step-father, Charles Tuggle. He attended Utica schools and was proud of his studies at MVCC, majoring in Graphic Arts. For a period, Gerrod worked at Outback Steak House. He loved to laugh and he was a real jokester. His two best friends, Devin and Kaleb, were always by his side. He loved animals and was passionate about protecting them, and providing them with food and shelter. His favorite felines were Phoenix and Akasha. Gerrod had a true love for his mom and honored her by being by her side. He always worried about her wellbeing, but they had each other and that was good enough for him. In his youth, he had the love and confidence of his grandmothers Cecile and Minister Pearl Bryant. Music was special to him as an expression of emotions, and he learned to appreciate different genres from his step-father. You rarely saw him without his hoodie and airbuds. He was also a YouTube gamer, and during his youth he enjoyed hanging with his buddies, Sarah, and Ashley. His go-to foods were McDonald’s, Chinese, and pizza. But Gerrod’s greatest gift was the great relationship and closeness he shared with his beloved mom. Their bond will never be broken. Gerrod is survived by his mom, Roxanne; his father, Gerrod; step-dad, Charles Tuggle and wife Renee; sister, Danielle Jrantenzerg; step-sister, Krystle Colvin; and grandmother, Minister Pearl Bryant. He also leaves his aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Cecile (Chapple) Karleskent; paternal grandparents, William and Dot Lanaux; and his uncles, Thomas Karleskent, and Shawn Lanaux. Roxanne wishes to thank her sisters and brother in-law, Red and Richard Goico, Betty Karleskent, Minister Bryant, Kaleb and Devin, Vilma, and all who have shown support and love. The family honored and commemorated Gerrod’s life at a private time. All funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
