Mr. George Daniel Spinelli

UTICA - Mr. George Daniel Spinelli, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at MVHS at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side, and is now reunited with his children who preceded him. Born in Tames, West Virginia on November 1, 1934, George was the son of the late Candido and Catherine (Parkulo) Spinelli. As a young boy, he and his family relocated to the Utica area where he attended local schools and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran, George was drafted into the United States Army in June of 1957 and served his country with honor. On August 29, 1959 he married the former Francine K. Rappa with whom he shared 59 years in a union filled with endless and loving memories of family life. At one time, he held a position at the Shenandoah Rayon Company in its Laboratory. He later worked for the Utica City School District in the Custodial Department, the position from which he retired. He also held various part time jobs to assist his family in their endeavors. George was a selfless husband, family man, and patriarch. He devotedly cared for the needs of his wife, and children with dedication and a sacrificing heart. He was also a caregiver for many family members throughout the years. He loved golfing, boating, and watching the New York Yankees. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. George is survived by his wife, Francine; and his daughter, Mary Catherine Spinelli. George’s life was forever changed when his children departed this earth too soon: his infant son George Joseph Spinelli on December 7, 1973, daughter Pamela M. Spinelli on March 4, 1987, and son Joseph George “Joey” Spinelli on July 11, 2006. He also leaves special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Joseph and Arlene Rappa, and Benny Rappa; and special family friends, Richard and Maryrose Azzarito. He was predeceased by his brother, Tony Spinelli; mother-in-law, Mary Rappa; and sister-in-law, Antoinette Rappa. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. George’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Arthur Krawszenko with Military Honors conferred. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
