Mr. Freddy Garcia

UTICA - Mr. Freddy Garcia, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in the comfort and dignity of his home. Born in Morovis, Puerto Rico on October 13, 1960, Freddy was the son of Carmen Ocasio and the late Edwardo Garcia. In 1968 he came to Utica as a young boy and attended Brandegee Elementary School and T.R. Proctor High School. Over the years, Freddy loved several women who blessed him with children who forever enhanced his life. He was currently married to Reynalda Sanchez. A multifaceted jack-of-all-trades, Freddy worked at different industries as a trucker, mechanic, construction worker, roofer, and welder. Because he was a kind soul and a kid at heart, children flocked to him. His joy and spirit in life was evident in the love he had for his children and family, and the energy and excitement he derived from them was uplifting to all. The loving bonds and emotional ties brought good karma to their family dynamics and he was able to rise above his own negativity and bring others with him with renewed optimism. He was a fighter on numerous levels. Freddy had a fence-mender personality and was always willing to admit his errors and make things right for those he wronged. When his grandbabies came, grandpa always wanted to share special activities and attention with each of them, and this experience made his life more complete. An avid outdoorsman, Freddy enjoyed hunting, and his all-time favorite sport, fishing, which brought him a sense of peace and serenity. He especially enjoyed his children and loved ones sharing the experience with him. He also participated in Golden Gloves Boxing competitions for amateur boxers at the Utica Boxing Association. He also had his foot in all genres of music when he was on the dance floor, and he passed his love of music to his generations that followed. He stepped up to special occasions and made them unforgettable in the lives of his loved ones. He prepared traditional Spanish meals which was important to him. Holidays were honored every year as he traveled to numerous family homes. Freddy prayed for everyone and practiced his Catholic faith as a parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church. He kept in touch, and he worked and prayed that everyone would be well. Hope, faith, and fortitude fill his heart. Freddy is survived by his children, Tania and Felix Morales, Freddy H. and Elizabeth Fuller, Crystal and Maxime St. Leger, Antonio Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Alex Sanchez/Chachon, and Sandra Garcia; and his mother Carmen Ocasio; his wife, Reynalda Sanchez-Garcia; grandchildren, Felix Jr.; Mia and Michael Price; Tatiana, Max Jr., Jeremiah, and Damien; 4 great-grandchildren, and was the anticipation of the birth of twins. He also leaves his brother, Edwardo Garcia; nieces and nephews, including Carmen Garcia (goddaughter), Maria Garcia (goddaughter), Eddie Garcia, and Luis Garcia; and several great-nieces and great-nephews as well as one great-great-nephew, all of whom Uncle Freddy loved dearly. Being friends with Freddy was a path to enjoy good times with a good-hearted, faithful pal. He had many good buddies, especially Daniel Guzman. Friends may pay their respects to Freddy on Thursday morning, April 29, 2021 from 10:30-12:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Face masks are required and social distancing and contact tracing will be implemented. Freddy's funeral service and Celebration of Life with Interment in Calvary Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
